The Lingo Sisters, Janet Lillian Russell and Meg Tennant, wove their musical threads through the west coast folk community in the 1990's. Janet has moved back to the west coast, and the Lingo Sisters have once again teamed up, with a focus on co-writing new material. "All I Have" is a Cd that was produced by the late,great Richard Bell. It started out as just a whisper of a hope that when said out loud gained some serious momentum...A year later I held the Cd in my hand. It seemed important to go into the new millennium with something new. Friends and Cd angels bought pre-sales, and F.A.C.T.O.R. (The foundation to assist Canadian talent on record)were kind to me.
People say to me with regards to the Cd "That's not all you have", and I say...perhaps but... "I'm going to give it 'All I Have' to live my life this way".
Richard loved the song "All I Have" and something I said on the phone to him in his Toronto home made him laugh. He took that as a good sign. Not bad for a small town girl from Saskatchewan (now living in beautiful Vancouver). I sent him some rough recordings and he built a beautiful Cd for me supported by some of the finest players in the country. I even met Bruce Cockburn in the process!
With Colin Linden on guitars,Gary Craig on drums,Bazil Donovan on bass and of course Richard Bell on keys, what's not to like? Add to that the west coast sessions with "The Wheel"...and what we have is a Janet Lillian Russell singer/songwriter product beyond anything I could ever have imagined.
Richard knew how to see the jewels among the stones and he knew how to make them really sparkle capturing the very essence of the artist he was working with.
"All I Have" is also the first recording project of my precious niece Allison Russell (Po Girl) (Sofia) who went on to tour 4 continents in '07...
Colin Linden has since become a Grammy Nominee and as always is a highly sought after session player and artist in his own right. You may have seen him with the infamous "Blackie and the Rodeo Kings".
I've been working very hard on my own health issues practicing Taoist Tai Chi and studying Mind, Meditation, and cutting edge spirituality. All is very,very well.
I've been writing songs and performing and recording with my lovely "Lingo Sister" Meg Tennant. Nashville here we come!
Very sadly Richard passed away in June of '07. He was working on music till the very end of his life.
Fast forward to 2008. New times...New technology...Time to bring this Cd forward . I want to honor Richard's memory and I want to thank the powers that be for my life and yes,also my challenges which have brought me to a place of happiness, healing and understanding. Richard said to me "We're making a classic Cd here. If it takes a while...so be it".
Timing is everything.
The wheel of life brings me back to "All I HAVE".
