JANET ROBIN BIOGRAPHY
Los Angeles singer-songwriter-guitarist,
Janet Robin has worked as a touring musician and guitarist with the likes of Lindsey Buckingham (solo band), Michelle Shocked, Meredith Brooks, and Air Supply. It's no surprise her guitar playing stands out at her live shows and on recordings, she was taught by legendary guitarist, Randy Rhoads, when she was a little girl in North Hollywood, California and playing in local neighborhood garage bands. Now she's all grown up and while keeping a busy schedule as a professional guitarist, Janet has four cds under her belt, released on her independent label, Little Sister Records. She has been described in reviews as "smart, savvy, fuzzy, hooky pop, edgy electro-acoustic pop (L.A. Weekly), & rockin with excellent songs and guitar work (L.A. Weekly - Recommended Live Dates), and her shows across the country have been building a strong momentum. In 2007, she finished an EP with producers David Bianco (John Hiatt, Mick Jagger) and Steve B. (Eminem). That led to a string of European dates and opened up a whole new world for Janet.
This April 2009 Janet just finished recording a new cd "Everything has Changed." John Carter Cash, (son of Johnny Cash and June Carter) produced, and they worked together at his Dad's personal studio Cash Cabin, in Nashville, Tennessee. Janet raised all the funds from her fans to help pay for the recording and the buzz about this new cd is already starting to build. Hypertension, a label in Germany (Joan Armatrading, Colin Hay, Mick Fleetwood's Blues Band, Midge Ure), has picked up the cd for European release in January 2010.
Several of her former songs have been featured in tv shows WBs Felicity, Fox Channels ""Wonderfalls," and the film "Free Enterprise. Janet currently writes for ABC/TV Music Library for some of their television shows. She has also had songs on various other singer-songwriters cds, including Anne McCue (the single "Driving Down Alvarado"), and on several of Maia Sharp's cd's, with whom she has many co-writes.
Janet has opened one-off dates and full tours for Colin Hay (men at work), Meredith Brooks, Melissa Ferrick, Kelly Joe Phelps, Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart), The Smithereens, Leon Russell, and many other national touring artists. She recently returned from a successful tour in the Czech Republic where she opened for November 2nd (EMI Records) and headlined various shows of her own. She has been to Europe several times and in November 2008, she performed at The Guitar Society, in Sidcup, Kent London. She was featured on Czech TV, "Dobre Rano" and in several international newspapers. In April 2009, she was on the cover (and feature story) of Musikus, the main music magazine in the Czech Republic. She just returned again to Europe for a 6 week tour with veteran performer, Lenka Filipova in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Her vigorous touring nationally and internationally has built her a loyal following, and her energetic performances and guitar playing are always received by her audience with great enthusiasm.
