   About janette geri

A gifted singer of rare warmth and beauty, Janette is a powerful performer with a truly beautiful voice, great acoustic guitar style, and a genius for interpretation. As a strong solo act she can mesmerize her audiences with soaring and assured vocals, rich guitar work and wicked sense of humour, creating an unforgettable energy and great range of moods.

With 2 brand new albums, Janette has just returned from a very successful tour of the UK. 'Telling Tales' is a stunning collection of traditional Celtic songs, all with a contemporary edge, joyfully re-worked with a generous spirit and plenty of soul. Her newest Cd, 'The Bastard's Daughter' features a superb set of new original songs...an intimate collection of songs that trace the path through loss to liberation. Beautiful vocals, vibrant arrangements and glorious textures, both albums are winning her acclaim. Both albums are available from Janette at her shows. You can also purchase both new albums online (and in person!) in Australia from Burke's Music in Castlemaine (click on album name) - Bastard's Daughter & Telling Tales.

Please contact Janette for information about her other albums.

“Janette Geri's sublime harmonies are nearly angelic” - Robert Tanzilo, The Milwaukee Sentinel

"Janette Geri provides a work of complete sensitivity and integrity. It's one thing to praise the arrangements, it's another to pay tribute to the excellent vocal delivery but something must be said about her lyrics which really do court a subtle sense of the poetic. Recited as poetry, her words stand dramatically tall.Terry Reilly – The Age

“She has a hauntingly beautiful and warm voice that puts instantly a spell on the listener. No matter if she sings traditional songs, Fairport Convention, Robert Burns or other historical ballads she gave them a new and wonderful re-make. Wonderful harmonies coupled with stirring rhythms and angelic singing make her music a real treat for your ears.” Adolf 'gorhand' Goriup FolkWorld Issue 38 03/2009 (Based in Switzerland, reviewer at Pay the Reckoning, Tradmusic.com & Rambles.net) To read the whole review go to their web site: FolkWorld Issue 38 03/2009 and scroll down.

“Her gift is obvious from the opening notes of any of her songs, but what she also brings to her performances is an all encompassing enthusiasm for Music that is conveyed to the audience the moment she walks on stage. It is an instant Love Affair. She takes no prisoners. This is the kind of stage presence you have to be born with ... Janette's music stops people in their tracks instantly.” Tim Quinn, Quill Publications/Mighty Quinn Management UK

Janette was interviewed by Mark Sheridan at Celtic Music Radio in Glasgow at the beginning of her 2008 UK tour. You can listen to the interview here: Janette's Celtic Music Radio interview

Janette was also interviewed about her 2008 UK tour by Mike Ganley on The Music Well just before she left Austraila, and this was featured on thier web site recently. You can hear this interview here: Interview with Mike Ganley on The Music Well

Janette's 2010 tour of the UK and Ireland is being promoted by Rob Ellen (Medicine Music)

Hey Janette,

I trust that Maldon has treated you well.  I love that festival, just haven't been back there in far too long.  If I manage to return from Geelong in time, I'll definitely be dropping an ear (or two) in on you at The Acorn on Sunday.

Cheers and wine-induced leers.
