Jane Woody & Angel Eyes is the musical outpourings of one girl, Melanie Ralph. Melanie was born in Tweed Heads, Australia in 1985 and has been making music since she learnt to play guitar as a kid. With some friends in Brisbane she formed the band I Heart Hiroshima in early 2005 and after leaving to focus on her own tunes she released two E.P’s, ‘Exit To Dos’ (Bookclub Records) and ‘Master Bedroom’ before finally getting her shit together in 2008 and releasing an album titled ‘Big Breaths Little Lungs’ through Brisbane label Valve. She also collaborates with Simon Graydon (of Brisbane band Sekiden) in the band Excellent Skeletons. Melanie is a reknowned navel-gazer, catastrophiser and life-lover.
Melanie also makes a zine called ‘Rhythm and Sorrow’ which is usually a collection of illustrations based on everyday conversations and real-life/love-life dramas. You can see some drawings from these zines by clicking here or buy a zine in Brisbane Australia at The Outpost and at Rockinghorse Records, or in New York City at Blue Stockings.

There's something so right about a sarong. All the time, but mostly when you're at the beach. Don't try this without a 2 piece bathing suit, it's mandatory. I tried it with a one piece, and the whole project was in shambles before I even started. Follow the directions very carefully.
I've just returned home after lot's of walking and trammin' ("to think that trammin' was a thing of the past" b.marley) And i found myself listening once again to you, headphones and all. However this time i went a little overboard with my love of your music and actually started to cry to 'it's about loyalty' (which i listened to on repeat) Thank you so much for your album you sent me. it's truly beautiful. I really hope i get to meet you one day. 'inspirational' always seems like such a wanky word but you have certainly inspired me.
Yeah!! I remember back in the day I caught the same bus as you when you were on your way to Melbourne. I also remember a cool gig at the Milton Bowls club.. woaaaa that was eons ago, R.I.P. milton bowls. I am very glad to see how successful you have been with your music, this is most excellent. X V
I'm sorry you've been duped, that bicycle video is a farce. No one can do that shit. And if they can, it's really sad that only 3 skimpy bleachers of grandmas are watching them, and the only documentation is a crappy, shaky, pixelated video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO IMPRESSIVE. I should show them my moves. Thanks for the inspiration, or reality check, I'm not sure which resonates more.
Hey baby ello lover, lols lols lols, bats! they are 5 girls who make a free zine-magazine in Brisbane. they messaged me saying that it is a 'filthy read', so i went nuts.
