It's always good to hear from bands and to hear interesting new stuff through recommendations on MySpace.
Please, though - no event invitations or impersonal spam and please be aware that due to the sheer volume of messages we can't listen to all the tracks we're asked to check out here on MySpace. We wish you all the best! Thanks - Janice x
Potted history first... I’ve been an air hostess, a waitress in Amsterdam, a grape picker and then a few other things interspersed with signing on before I joined BBC Radio Merseyside. I then went to Radio One, had our Fred, did GLR, XFM and then decided that it was time to try and get a new radio station going in Liverpool....did that....won a licence and gave birth to our Blue.
I then got a phone call asking me if I would like to do a show for Radio 2 from Glastonbury. The sun was shining...it was a great weekend...I had a wonderful time legging after the likes of Debbie Harry and Michael Stipe and getting Fran Healy to sing Driftwood for me after blagging him a guitar. After that I started doing more stuff for Radio 2 before turning up on my own show, 5 nights a week.
We all get together once a week to talk about the live music and other stuff that we plan to put in the show. We have a fantastic music studio with top notch engineers and bands love to come and play here....Manic Street Preachers, Kasabian, Nerina Pallot, Paul Weller, The Twang, Wombats, Moby, The Enemy and loads more.......... The show is very spontaneous and I use the phones, emails and texts that I get from you to move it along and change direction. I love it....we have such a good time in the studio.....when you are in to music and talking as much as I am..it’s got to be the perfect gig.
After an absence of 20 years, Liverpool post-punk legends The Wild Swans are back with an epic new single. You can’t fake authenticity and as you might expect from the creators of the astonishing Revolutionary Spirit, English Electric Lightning is an breathtaking tour de-force; 5-minutes 56 seconds of coruscating Blakean incandescence. By their works shall ye know them. The very best of British.
Thanks for introducing me to some great music on the show. Just love Honeyroot - my song of the week on my space. Where would I be without the Janice Long show to keep me posted!
Hiya Beautiful, we so miss you up here in Liverpool, but at least we get to listen to you most nights on the radio. LISTEN UP YOU GUYS, RADIO 2 - 12.30 most nights. So what comment do I want to make? Oh yes - YOUR FAB! And to those who know you, an eternal friend, kind, funny, witty, wise, considerate, sexy (and your a mum!)incredibly intelligent and talented, wasted on radio (but if you stop I'll personally gab you to death - promise!) You make me jealous (but in a good way) because you are capable of so much (and all the time being a great mum) And finally you got me 'LAID' and live in front of thousands! ('Laid' as in the song by James - not as in... - although it did put me in the mood!)Actually it's not finally, you are so much more, but you know how I hate to gush - far too showbiz for me! Fab and all the rest will have to do. Love to all the Berry's C&M xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
