TENT/CITY / FUTURE HEAVY split C32 $5

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Harnessing vibrations from the constellation Lyra, Tempe's Tent/City and Denver/Olympia's Future Heavy have met on this cassette to tour us through a half-hour of the finest rattle and hum you've heard since U2's live record. FH navigates the wormhole with a heavy rhythm section, electronic and otherwise, accompanied by oboe, xylaphone and mixer fuzz. Reminiscant of stampeding elephants from the afterlife. Tent comes from a more clouded plane. Sparse jabs from a prismic screwdiver and a paperbag drumset, held in place by the lowriding bass and vocal mirages. Once the fog finally clears, T/C ressurects a broken drumline to carry you through to the blank space on the tape. In an edition of 100 with three folds of broken xerox and cactus spine scetches by J.R. and jr of Tent/City.

LBER "Slum Drum" C60 $6

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Spontaneous jam sesh' between John Ryan(tent/city, soft shoulder, cottages, steve gnash, etc.) and tempe's backyard birds. Just before winter broke the drum set was plugged in and the sounds of monsoon season came early. Exploration of free sparse drum and environment noise a la Graveyards. The tape begins with about 16 minutes of drum sound, the rest is empty tape space for you to use(i found some C60's hiding at the bottome of a spare fabric crate and decided to put them to use). In an edition of 7 made from broken bike parts and found transparencies.

SMALL GROUP'S "SK8R DREAMZ EP" out very soon!

DNT011- Hide And Seek "Tales From The Fourteenth Dimension" 2xcdr $5ppd in US/Canada $10ppd International
I unfortunetly found out about this band a little too late; they had already broken up. This band is from North Carolina although listening to them they sound like they might come from D.C. A friend of mine said they sound like "black eyes if black eyes were FUN". And I definetly agree. The band is three people, one is a girl, and all of them sing at different parts in different songs. There are keyboards and drums. And a cow-bell. This release is a two disc discography of this dancey punk-funtacular band. Housed in a thin, white dvd case with a full-color cover, art by Zach the keymaestro, and spray-painted cdrs and cases. Edition of 100. MP3 myspace

DNT006- Grime Hut "Live at Il Corral" cassette $3ppd in US/Canada $6ppd International
This band is so good they don't have to practice. So good they don't have to record in studios. So good they don't have to be booked to play shows. Grime Hut is an improvisational experimental act..wannabe metal? Featuring members of Night Wounds, Shearing Pinx, Pretty Thigh, and Hide and Seek. They hardly ever play shows. This is one of their shows. From a show at the Il Corral in Los Angeles on July...27th, 2006 I believe..some time that week.. Some members were "inspired" before the set. ahem. what? Recorded live. Unmastered copies on home boombox to recycled tapes salvaged from the sewers where Grime Hut belong anyway. Limited to the amount of tapes in the limited amount of shoeboxes full of tapes I have.

ahhhh, come on, JR! The tapes on it's way now. I forgive you. Come here, hugz..
oooommphumfnnngumbfffmmmmmmuuuuuuhhhhhhhh okay. okay. That..that's god.
Oh, yes, I misspelled "good" as "god". Am I leaving it that way? You bet your ass I am.

Amazing.

Jun 28 2006 6:43 AM

Yo soft shoulder, you sound much better on recording. Whenever I hear you live, the guitar drowns out the vocals & sax. This is the first time I've heard the vocals.

NARWHALZ A STATIC RAINBOW: BLUE CS $5/$6 in Europe

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Bubbly cartoon vomit from the Richmond under grime. Narwhalz has come to make gameboys speak to us in a way they never have before - mostly they want to tell us how happy, hyper and agitated they are. So here it is, the dope brain splattering language of handheld game consoles, yakking about how they all want to attend the great psychedelic dog show in the sky. This tape will touch parts of your brain you didnt know you had and make your serotonin levels climb skyward. 10 tracks in about 1/2 an hour. Samples available on our myspace.

NEW! Last 3 Parts in the Quilt Series

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

26. Dog Shit Taco - Black Oxide: Chamber Music for a Small Group of Bleeding Mice

Like grease on bone china, this is the sound of blight on the pure, but you know, they still have a good time at it. One of the great new additions to the utterly indefinable LA noise scene, DST combine classically trained vocals, totally degraded electronics, bass, drums and a penchant for sound exploration. This piece includes a beautifully mutilated cover of Steve Reichs Four Organs as well as an original. At the end of it you'll have a headache and a new sense of resolve.

27. Chorused the Animals - The Beasts!

Its like they emerged from the mists fully formed and completely genius; Chorused the Animals is like a magical, childish, prance through a place we can only view through the window of song. It sounds like nothing else - maybe a little Robert Fripp and Brian Wilson merged with the Residents, but clearly they are their own animal. They've opened up a whole new realm of bedroom pop. You haven't heard of them, but if there is any reserve of infinite justice in the universe, you will

28. FoodEater - S/T

Here, another recording from the ashes of Quem Quaeritis. Quem was a band that didnt care which genres it stole from; it was equal opportunity thievery. Really, the main proponent behind the breadth of that band was Matt O'Neill, the bands all-around multi-instrumentalist. In this case he takes on hip hop, jazz and medieval chants. Most, upon first listen, will experience a "what the fuck" moment, but soon enough youll just enjoy it in all of its well-executed absurdity.

All 3 are $3.50 ppd in the USA or $4 ppd in Europe
