In 2007, he released a solo native flute CD entilted, UNITY that embodies the spirit of the solo flute with vocals and minor indigenous accompaniment....15 different flutes were used to record the CD, including deer bone, double flutes, and a hybrid native/celtic flute....In 2008, “THE LOOKING WOLF PROJECT” was released. Jan Michael takes native flute playing to new limits on this CD. A true blend of a authentic alternative rock band with the native american flute as the lead instrument. Most of the songs are instrumental with the flute singing the melodies and others premier Jan Michael as a lead vocalist, with several original songs and a unique cover of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”. In spring of 1994, Jan Michael suffered two large strokes from a very rare unknown genetic enzyme disorder prone to Native Americans and had blood clots pass through his brain and heart and cause bleeding in the lungs. As a result from the strokes, he was paralyzed on the entire left side of his body for nearly a year. He received a miraculous healing and recovered 100%.
