In 2009 there is no such thing as privacy on the internet. It is the age of social networks thus I am trying to consolidate my projects and streamline my persona on line and, did I mention, stop being overwhelmed by so many sites?
Twitter gets my vote hands down. If you want to keep up with my updates subscribe to
http://www.twitter.com/janakyomoon. . who? well there's another story. Here goes . . . .
After years of working, writing and producing music I am involved more than ever with expanding the virtual world of music on line and all that has to offer. I believe, yea know, this is the future. My fascination with music technology and computers started back in the days of the Oberheim System and has continued through C-lab's Notator on an Atari to working with Logic Audio on the Mac. The millennium saw me jumping feet first into a new century of all things electronic at an ever quickening pace. I became a beta tester for Logic Audio's Rocket Network, a global network of pioneers of on line collaboration and today I continue to develop that spirit in the 3D virtual world of Second Life.
I am what people consider a "veteran musician" whose life has been jam packed with musical adventures from touring with erstwhile major label pop artists like Cyndi Lauper and the Thompson Twins to working with indie artists like Dulcimer legend David Schnaufer and jazz great Chico Freeman.
My songs and music has been performed by artists as diverse as Ani da Franco, Steps, Chico Freeman, Eurovision, the Leaders, Dr. Elmo, Zoe Girl, Jeff Oster, and Darlene Love, whose rendition of "Night of Peace" is fast becoming a classic. Most of the nineties were spent as Cyndi Lauper's keyboard player, co-writer, producer and musical director. We toured the world together and our creative partnership spawned some of her most artistic and critically acclaimed work. Over twenty songs were released on the albums "12 Deadly Cyns" ,"Sisters of Avalon", "Merry Xmas" and "Shine"
I was also one of the founding composers for Atmosphere Music UK, a library music company, and have written hundreds of music cues for film and TV. You name a TV program and my music has probably been used on it in one form or another according to the PRS statements i get each quarter. When I moved to the States I wrote for First Com music in Dallas and now am freelancing for all and sundry.
Always a lover of the rhythms of dance music I wrote Cyndi Lauper's dance hits "Come on Home", "You don't Know", "Ballad of Cleo and Joe" and "Higher Plane" and worked with DJ Julian Marsh on many of his Pride CDs with Happy Charles and Jajucha. More recently UK artist Alan Connor recorded our song "The Christmas Dream" and Evan Cowden has just recorded "Dance FLoor Dance Whore."
I am still recording with people all over the globe mixing jazz with electronica triphop and dance rhythms in the electronica project "aTHeNa BLue". Acid Planet recently ran a remix competition for the ReQuieM 4 eLViS + JeSuS , a piece of music that has been performed in many incarnations both on line and at the City Skies Electronica festival in Atlanta and the Buzz + Click Festival for WRVU. The albums ReTuRN 2 ZeRo and aLiVe iN a SeCoND LiFe are available through CD baby.
. . . and so to JaNa KYoMooN - a pixelated entity, or avatar, created by me, Jan Pulsford, to front my on line music performances in the virtual word of Second Life where I perform a few times a week. Hundreds of people have attended the concerts which are streamed live on itunes @ http://www.mamradio.net
Recently the album "Sketches of the KyoMooN" was released and "Behind the Hill" is coming soon. I perform as a solo artist mixing electronica with ambient improvisations and rhythmic reflections in what has been described as "a gallery of soundscapes and audio paintings." - pictures sketched with reflective piano and synths tinged with echoes of world jazz and triphop"
It is a brave new world and I would like to meet musicians/ graphic artists/ animators and such who are seriously interested in exploring and developing on line performance and collaboration.
Hello Jan, Happy New Year! Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends! We've added two blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our page. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too. We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy. Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other. We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large. What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology! ♫♫♫ Thom & Lorry Gambino ♫♫♫ New York, New York
Hey jan pulsford! : ) “Watch your thoughts, for they become words; watch your words, for they become actions; watch your actions, for they become habits; watch your habits, for they become character; watch your character, for it becomes your destiny." ~ Mahatma Ghandi”
Hey Jan, yes, all is well. I think I'm having a nostalgic seizure! I had no idea all this stuff was on Youtube and of course I had a blast doing the couple I did myself. Hope you are well and having a good year so far, Karen, x
