Japancakes formed in Athens, GA(1996). We are currently on Darla Records and have two albums coming out this fall, followed up by entire back catalog reissued beginning 2008 (Darla). The first, "Giving Machines", is available on iTunes now and will be officially released October 9, 2007. This album is all new original recordings, with a cover of Heaven or Las Vegas, originally written by Cocteau Twins. The second album due out in November 2007, is "Loveless". This album is a complete cover of the My Bloody Valentine classic, "Loveless". The original album released back in 1991 on Creation is an amazing album. We are thankful to get the opportunity to record our interpretation of the MBV version. We hope you enjoy these two new albums and look forward to making more in the future. We are also really happy to have a home at Darla Records. They are not only a great label to work with but are great people to know and call friends. With the many different schedules and locations of band members we are hoping to sort things out to make it out on tour, most likely small tours, sometime in late fall/winter. Things have been busy for all of us lately, recording, other bands, travels, families, but with Giving Machines and Loveless being released and our music being placed in films and ads recently, everything is looking up. Thanks for listening and keeping in touch....................
