Jacqueline's Interests

General	I like to be active, not much for sitting on the couch. I coached a dragonboat team and raced outrigger canoes for a few years and loved it. Now I'm a mommy and don't have time for much else. I enjoy time in my garden and showing my daughter new things. We enjoy family walks and hikes around Portland.
Music	My favorite is rock music with fiddle; It's a Beautiful Day is a good example. Otherwise acoustic is generally enjoyable. In reality I mostly listen to "The Wheels on the Bus" these days.
Movies	We tend to watch a lot of documentaries and foreign films, especially with Gong Li. I think my husband has a thing for her.
Television	Oregon Public Broadcasting gets the bulk of our viewing with Nature shows and Frontline/news programming. I also enjoy learning shows, especially America's Test Kitchen. The Amazing Race is probably my favorite weekly show, and somehow Survivor made into my regular viewing. Now how'd that happen?!
Books	Historical fiction is my favorite genre. I've really enjoyed the Anchee Min novels set in Imperial China.

Cheryce Renae	Jul 5 2009 11:11 PM Well, right now, Parker is refusing to be put down for more than 12.3 seconds (I think he has snuggle withdrawals from yesterday) and Savannah is in the middle of full on 2-year old melt down. And the girls have been tattling, arguing, and bickering since 7am. So I guess that's a 'no'. Haha! But we really have to get together!

We bought a sling, boppy, toys, books, and some shoes there so far. :) I'm going to try yard/garage sale-ing this summer to try & find some cheap stuff. They change sizes every other week! My 4 year old has outgrown all but 4 pairs of her 9 in the past month! I've been browsing craiglist too. Just had three garbage bags of girls clothes, like brand new, given to me. I'm all for your anti-consumerist movement too. Why keep buying new & throwing away? Reuse, reduce, recycle! (It's cheaper too!)

All of them have outgrown everything school appropriate, and summer clothes are the next to go! Plus with supplies, shoes, lunch stuff, backpacks... Ugh. I'm gonna be broke as a joke!

They are so much fun! Senna is a mama's girl, which is great for me, not so great for the rest of the world. She is slowly but surely getting used to other folks (papa, Oma and Opa, etc). And she always has a smile for her big sis! Hope you are doing well!

angela	Jul 23 2007 9:56 AM Don't worry, the "after-belly" will go away. Are you breast feeding? That helped me a lot! As a matter of fact, I ended up about three kilos lighter than before I got knocked up. Hoping for the same result with this one, too. Who knows, maybe I can develop a "baby diet" and write a book and make millions and millions of euros/dollars... As for the weather here, let's just say that I am still white as the belly of a fish. It has been stormy and dreary and not at all like summer. I suppose I should feel lucky with my bloated belly and all, but I miss the sun. Enjoy your new little sunshine. Hope I get a chance to see her while she's still little. Puh!
angela	Jul 22 2007 5:04 PM Congratulations!! I suppose now we can say that we've gone from being spit-sisters to spit-up-sisters. Enjoy all of those beautiful things that come along with being a mama, even when they don't feel so fun (dirty diapers, waking up in the middle of the night, etc). The rewards are in the little smiles and little kisses and that beautiful sense of pride you feel when you get to show her off to the world. A big fat "Puh!" to you and yours!

But then again, I suppose if you have had her you are probably so busy loving her that you haven't had much time to type about her yet. Hope that you're either enjoying your new baby girl or not pulling your hair out in frustration from having to wait so long!
