Some people you might hear with jared's band are...
Em C on vocals and guitar; Charlie Simms on drums; Al Newman on guitar; Evan Lewis on bass; Michael Bell on vocals; Dorian Wallace on keys....
Influences
I have been listening to...Richard Bona, Galactic, Hiromi, Alicia Keys, Jamie Cullum, Esperanza Spalding, Better than Ezra, Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae, Chris Cornell, As Tall As Lions, Victor Wooten, Mute Math, Chris Thile, Ben Folds, Miles Davis, Esther Ovejero, Stevie Wonder, Francis Dunnery, Tal Wilkenfeld, Steely Dan, Raul Midon, Chet Atkins, The Roots, The Cinematic Orchestra, Kyle Eastwood, Ricky Lee Jones, Flea/RHCP, Prince (Rainbow Children), Ozomatli, Norah Jones, John Mayer, Tom Brown Jr., Ducks, Deer, and tons more.
My Dad was my first Bass Teacher, Victor Wooten had a huge influence, of course Jaco, no one plays for the song as well as Chuck Rainey (great teacher and story teller), and anyone else I have ever played with or listened to!
With his father and four uncles actively playing in bands and his only remaining uncle working for a radio station, it seems that music is built into Jared’s Y chromosome. After learning some bass-ics from his father at age 12, he began developing his bass-playing skills further by listening to music, playing what he heard, and then making it his own.
In the summer of 2006, Jared studied with Chuck Rainey and Victor Wooten at Victor’s bass nature camp, and during a blindfolded solo, he became one of the few attendees in the camp’s history to inspire Chuck to dance. Jared’s first album was released in October of 2007, combining solo bass and pop music to create unique, complex sounds that are still catchy and listener-friendly. Beacon Journal writer Malcolm Abram described Jared as having “the technique and a love for harmonics as melody a la Jaco Pastorius.”
Jared is the main bass player for Branches of the Same Tree, Winslow, and Rob Metz.
