I've been in the studio for most of the year and as always, played with some of my favorite musicians, including long-time collaborators Bruce Lawrence on guitar, Rick Scott ..boards, and Tom Bertram on bass. I was also lucky enough to get one Little Rock''s best drummers, Daniel LaRue, to add drums.
When I'm doing a live show, it really depends on the venue as to who shows up to accompany me. For smaller shows and coffee houses, sometimes I'll do an acoustic show with just guitar and percussion, sometimes I'll bring an upright bass player and a cocktail drum set, sometimes it'll just be me. For larger venues and festivals, I generally play with a five-piece band (me, drums, bass, guitar, keyboards). The live shows are the highlight of music for me, so I hope you can find one to come out to. There's nothing like sharing what you love!
Check the calender to find an upcoming show near you. And if you've got a great club in your area that you think would love what I do, send me there info! I'd love to come play for you ...
Influences
When I was six years old I remember listening to John Denver (mom), Elvis Presley (mom and dad), and Beethoven (dad) while we cleaned house. Not surprisingly, my first song was "Rocky Mountain Hound Dog in F minor". Luckily I progressed from there ...
My formative years were spent with the Police and U2, then I moved onto Pearl Jam, Vertical Horizon, and LiVE. These days I mix it up with a little David Gray, Coldplay, Belle and Sebastian, and Damien Rice.
While I have learned a lot about melody and structure and what makes a good song from those artists, it's hard to actually hear them as a musical influence in my work. When I write, when it's really 'happening' (you other writers know what I'm talking about), it just feels like the top of my head comes off and somebody pours in a bunch of words and notes. My job then is to try and assemble them into a song.
I love getting opinions about my music, so if you have a favorite, shoot me an e-mail. I'm very I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks for listening!!

"Jared puts on a great show ... his Sunday night acoustic shows give a great taste of Hollywood's true independent side."
Cafe LA (Los Angeles)
"The show ... was highlighted by passionate vocals from Jared Young. His wonderful sound and energy onstage is remarkable. He really draws you in."
As a songwriter, Jared Young combines his ear for fresh melodies with a poet’s hand for inventive lyric writing. His live shows are intense and energetic, and his genuine emotional involvement in his performances draws his listeners into the experience with him. Young’s heartland songs, packed with pop hooks, poetic lyrics and American sentiments, are delivered with tremendous enthusiasm and sincerity.
At 14, Jared discovered The Police. At 15, Live Aid changed his life’s direction. At 17, he got his first paying gig, culminating in a performance a few years later at Little Rock's Riverfest Music Festival - a closing spot on the main stage, playing to 30,000 people.
Jared now lives in Los Angeles and has garnered a steady following through live shows and the internet. An early adopter of the power of the internet, his website logged over 5000 downloads in 2006 and 2007. “Uncomfortable Skin” was the second single released from the 2006 album So Many Miles, and Jared donated the proceeds from I-Tune sales to the non- profit Global Scholarship Fund, which helps underprivileged women around the world receive a college education (www.globalscholarshipfund.org).
Jared’s highlights from recent performances include a 12-date tour in the UK with appearances in London, Newcastle, Sunderland, Tyne, as well as Amity Fletcher’s famous “Big Secret” night at Ginglik, and the “CORE Industry Showcase at Storm” in the heart of Leicester Square.
In North America, Jared’s Montreal fan club prepared the setlist for a great show at “The Vault” when Jared toured Quebec, and memorable crowds came out for the Harper County 4th of July Festival in Kansas and the Riverwalk Ampitheater show in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jared also performed at the Temecula Valley Song and Film Festival, and the “First Friday’s Festival” in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As Jared's popularity grows, so does his fan base. Jared Young Street Teams have been formed in over seven US states and two cities in Quebec, CA (Montreal and Jonquierre).
Jared's music can be heard in a number of independent films including Life, Death, and Mini- Golf; Gone But Not Forgotten; and Speed Trap. Most recently, Jared's song, "Push" was placed in Four Winds Pictures' short feature, Animus Road.
Brian Lush, of RockWired.com says, "[Young's new album is] is a gritty collection of earnest and heartfelt rockers. Yes, Young is a troubadour with his heart on his sleeve and a wide yet modest grin."
CD Baby raves, “Welcome back, middle America, you have a new champion. Jared Young takes acoustic rock to a new level with his Stickman Music debut So Many Miles. For everyone that misses the honesty and hooks of Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen - listen up.”
Jared’s new album – Several Shots At Redemption – is due out in early 2009.
