2009 looks set to be the year that propels Jason Chance into the bigtime. Being billed as Stealth Records’ (the home of Roger Sanchez) “new kid on the block”, it was only a matter of time before his big break came…
10 years’ djing and promoting experience have led to jason firmly establishing himself as one of the London clubbing scene’s rising stars, and someone with a genuine passion for music – and more importantly, for ‘all things house’. After plying his trade in the underground scene, it was in 2007 when Jason really broke into the capital’s major clubbing circuit in the UK. After making a huge impact on his London debut, at the legendary club Turnmills, he was invited back the following month and the month after – and a residency there was soon established, ending with him gracing the infamous Main Room dj booth, the month before the venue closed its famous doors for good. London was to take note immediately of his talents and gigs at some of the finest venues (Ministry of Sound / Pacha / Egg etc) followed his Turnmills debut. There has been no looking back since, as he continues to build a real name for himself in the scene. Jason is a versatile dj with a real presence on the decks, who brings his passion for clubland into his sets, playing an infectious, upbeat, driving and upfront House sound that is unique to him.
As well as djing, it was clear Jason had more to offer the London scene and just 4 months after that first Turnmills gig, he was launching his own club brand/night ‘LICKED’, as a sub-promotion in the club’s awesome Juno Room. Just like his djing, Licked made an immediate name for themselves at the club, priding themselves on supplying ‘the best in upfront house music’. They would go on to host Licked at Turnmills 4 times before the club shut in March 2008 and have now hosted huge parties at the likes of Ministry of Sound (with The Gallery), SeOne Club (with Hat Club), Egg, Scala, etc, and currently have a very successful residency at Clapham’s coolest venue, The Whitehouse. With some big offers on the table and exciting events lined up for the months ahead, it looks set to be a very exciting time for the Licked brand….
After a decade of djing/promoting, it was only a matter of time before Jason moved into production – and this looks set to be his time. NYE 2008 Jason dropped his debut track ‘The Beginning’ (a huge piano stomper!) for the first time in a Scala main room dj set – and it tore the roof off! The track immediately gained support from some of clubland’s biggest players (including D.O.N.S, Erick E, Kid Massive, Tune Bros etc) and within 2 months was signed by none other than Roger Sanchez, to his prestigious House label Stealth Records. For a debut track, the breaks don’t get much bigger than that. Jason’s second track was then picked up by StoneBridge (to his imprint ‘Stoney Boy Music’) and since then he has signed another 2 tracks to Stealth Records once more, for an E.P due out later in 2009. ‘The Beginning’ gets a full release in September and as Stealth have said themselves, the track is ‘putting Jason Chance on the map’. He has made sure his productions reflect his unique, pumping house djing sound that has brought Jason so much success over the years – and the results are there for all to see. With remix work now coming in and some rocking new House productions in the pipeline, it’s clear that Jason Chance is definitely one to watch...
