Jason and Iyare are DJ’s, presenters and producers who make radio programmes for their own production company, the BBC and commercial radio.
Jason Mitchell is known in London's Hip Hop and RnB scene as a co-founder of the DJ team Twice Ez Nice in 1989 with DJ/Producer Ollie Twist. The Duo have DJ'ed at parties for the likes of Destiny's Child and Eminem.
Iyare studied Pop Music Studies in Leeds and graduated with 1st class honours. Returning to London he worked as a recording engineer mixing house tunes and promoting records with the CD Pool. In 2000 he joined Darkerthanblue as online music editor and brand development working on compilation CDs, club tours, talent competitions and online and music editorial. He has also made numerous appearances on the BBC Five Live show Fighting Talk.
Jason & Iyare started broadcasting together in 2001, presenting an hour-long show called The Presence on the Student Broadcast Network, playing Hip Hop, RnB, UK Garage and Dancehall for nine months until the launch of BBC 1Xtra.
The duo broadcasted the 1Xtra breakfast show every weekday from the station’s launch in August 2002, until October 2007. The show was a magazine / lifestyle show which covered everything from new black music, to news, current affairs and entertainment.
In 2006, they set up a radio production company called On It Industries, who currently produce programmes including the 1Xtra weekday M1X show, and various documentaries.
In 2007, they left 1Xtra to pursue other broadcasting opportunities. The A-Z of Street Music is their first programme for BBC Radio 2.
Iyare will be joining BBC 6Music in January 2008 to present the 6Mix show, and Jason continues to executive produce all of On It Industries output for 1Xtra.

" To see life from the perspective of intuition is like looking at life from the summit of the mountain, whereas seeing life only from the perspective of intellect is like looking at life from the foot of the mountain. Through learning to listen to our intuition, we learn to be in contact with the Whole."
