ME and the people that inspire me, are willing to help me, allow me to share with them, and take part in life to help others. Those who are willing to be patient with the impatient, humble to the proud, loving to the hateful, share with the poor, give a home to the refugees, be peaceful with the violent, and teach those who don't yet know that they are loved and cared for and that the world can be both a bigger place and yet small...

JASON ANDRE: Winter Dreams EP
If a young surfer learned to play a guitar from his father, became an Aboriginal man sometime during adolescence, put on a kilt, traveled to Turkey, met the resurrected Christ, then sat down to sing about it...this is what it would sound like!
Pulling from more influences than I can name on a page, music in my life has been a whirlwind of ideas and sounds since I first touched the keys of a piano back in Chicago when I was 7 years old. From punk rock to rocksteady, and Beatles to bagpipes my inspirations and interests are as vast as the ocean I live in. Living on a little island can be very isolating, but also very exposed. In some ironic way as we are exposed to wind, waves, and tides here, so have I been exposed to so many blessed musicians, techniques, sounds, and musical artforms. The eagerness to get off the island and travel may have something to do with it, but God's creation of sound, music, instruments to weave together notes, vibrations, and rhythms is infinite and ever changing. So in an attempt to bring together just a fraction of the experiences of my life in a pallete of words, notes and beats I've composed and recorded an album of sorts. My hope is that the album conveys a feeling of inspiration, hope and love, while maintaining a sense of reality and dealing with the struggles and spiritual demons that we all face and have the strength through Christ to conquer. I played in a punk band a long time ago, but at a coming of age I stepped away from that and explored more territory both physically and spiritually. What has given way is what you hear now. I've been both blessed and honored to have played with my brother Josh Garrels, the Lions, the Psalters, Flatfoot 56, and "brothas" in Sacred Intent at the Cornerstone festival the past two summers. I also was blessed with an opportunity to play a set on Glen Clark's Jesus Village Stage and several more under the shade and fellowship of the Alliance World Coffees tent, where I volunteered serving coffee as well. Only one person knows the future and His plans have been better than any of mine so I'm stoked to continue working and refining my skills to hopefully glorify the creator and bless and encourage others, while being blessed by them. Your most likely to find me leading worship at Christian Surfers somewhere on the East Coast, or if you're in the Wilmington area, working with kids around town, volunteering with Dreams Center for Art Education, playing bagpipes with Port City Pipes and Drums, or playing Djembe and Didgeridoo with West African master drummer and dancer, Cheick Sissoko and Soko African Drum and Dance Ensemble...
