   About Jason RC
Jason Arce was born July 18th, 1984 in East Hartford, CT. Jason and his family moved to Virginia Beach, VA before starting school at the age of 5. Jason began singing at the age of 10 and started playing saxophone at the age of 12 while in middle school. Before entering high school he was playing baritone and alto saxophone. By the time he finished high school Jason was playing mostly tenor and soprano. By the time he entered he entered high school he was intrigued by jazz music and the creativity it lent itself to. Jason continued to play music through high school. Upon entering college at Virginia Commonwealth University he decided that he was going to commit himself to becoming a professional musician. By the time he was a junior at VCU he began teaching privately and appearing as a guest artist at middle schools and high schools. He has also taught elementary and middle school jazz appreciation and theory. While in Richmond, he has had been very fortunate to play with all of his mentors. He also was blessed with the opportunity to study and perform with Steve Wilson, Seamus Blake, Scott Colley, James Moody, Wycliffe Gordon, Howard Curtis, Gary Smulyan, John D’Earth, Rex Richardson, George “Skip” Gailes, JC Kuhl, Marty Nau, and composition with Doug Richards. Jason is no stranger to playing different genres; he has also performed/shared the stage with Weezer, Fighting Gravity, Amos Lee, Jon Bibbs, the No BS Brass Band, and The Big Payback. Jason is a saxophonist/composer/educator/arranger who currently resides in New York City. He is a two-time recipient of the Joe Kennedy Jr. Jazz Scholarship and numerous VCU Scholarships. Jason received his undergraduate degree at VCU and is attending New York University to get his master's degree in music performance. Jason performs actively throughout New York, Virginia and the East Coast. Also, Jason is available for private instruction and guest artist performances. In the summer of 2008 Jason brought his quintet to the studio to record their debut CD of all original music. Jason's debut CD "Simplicity" is now available through Plan9, Itunes, Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody, and many other online stores. Jason can be contacted directly at sax1jazz1@aol.com and www.myspace.com/jasonarce New Relationship //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// SIMPLICITY REVIEW=== "Simplicity is a modest title for an album that has exciting complexities around every corner. Wild melodies, blazing solos, and unique interplay often mask any simplicity that is to be found in the music. But still, there is a certain welcomed basic-ness at the heart of saxophonist Jason Arce's debut release. Penned solely by Arce, the compositions are borne of a talented band full of life and energy."-RVAJazz.com ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// His current projects besides leading the Jason Arce Trio/Quartet/Quintet are===The Big Payback, SavageJazz, and The Steve Carter Connextion. www.myspace.com/jasonarce New Relationship //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
