Jason's Interests
|
| General | I enjoy writing, or to steal a quote from Mr. Block, I feel worse when I don't write. I have my weekly television shows and enjoy keeping up with the movies, though it seems there's not always much worth seeing these days. My favorite interest is probably the lives of my friends. | | Music | Billy Joel is my favorite musician of all time. Others I enjoy include Damien Rice, Norah Jones, Ryan Adams, Rachael Yamagata, The Fray, Anna Nalick, Ari Hest, Amos Lee, Ben Folds, Howie Day, and Snow Patrol, but I'm sure there're more I'm leaving out. | | Movies | Braveheart, The Paper, Brick, A Few Good Men, Batman Begins, Memento, The Shawshank Redemption, The Saint, GoldenEye, The Mask of Zorro, Spider-Man, Spider-man 2...again, I feel like I'm only scratching the surface here, because I don't really have an all-time favorite. | | Television | Prison Break, 24, House, and Veronica Mars are all returning favorites from last year or before. Alias, The Pretender, Quantum Leap and Sliders are not on the air anymore, but I love them all, some more for sentimental reasons than for the quality of the show. MacGyver leads the pack of sentimental favorites, and The O.C. is my one true guilty pleasure; I figure it's best to just admit it. | | Books | The Bernie Rhodenbarr series by Lawrence Block and the Linclon Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver. A Long Way Down and High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers | | Heroes | I've never really been able to answer this well. If a hero is someone you admire to the extent that you strive to live like them, then I'd have to list my father in this category. |

About me:
I'm not sure what to put here. On the one hand, it seems really impossible to sum up a person in an "about me" paragraph, but on the other hand if I go on and on about the different facets of humanity I'm likely to seem pretentious. I'll just say that I'm twentysomething and living in Ohio. I'd like to become a published writer, and I've set up this site in the hopes that you'll enjoy reading what I have to write. Should it occur to me to add really interesting details about myself in this section, I'll be sure to do so; I guess you can always contact me if you want specific information on anything.

Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to hang out with Nick Hornby and Lawrence Block and have a chat about writing. It'd be nice to sing a Billy Joel song with the man himself, and I guess if I had to pick an actor to meet it'd be Mel Gibson or Robert Downey, Jr. Whenever I really think about meeting celebrities, though, I think about hanging out with the cast of a TV show, like 24 or Studio 60 or Alias or Veronica Mars or House or The O.C. After watching the same people week after week, I'd be really intrigued to observe all that goes into making a show and see how all of the actors interact off-screen.
