I'm Jason Dement. I was born in Mississippi and I grew up on Pine Burr Road between Purvis and Columbia. I graduated from Purvis High School in 2001 and joined the US Army the following summer. I was stationed in Illesheim, Germany in February 2002. I deployed to Kuwait/Iraq for Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. I moved to my 2nd duty station in Ansbach, Germany in 03. I married my beautiful wife Jasmin who is German (look at my pictures :) Jasmin and I spent 3 years building our house in Flachslanden, Germany (in Bavaria). The last portion of my army service sent me to Hanau, Germany as my final duty station in July 06. Hanau is next to Frankfurt and 125 miles away from my wife and our house. It was a tough year only seeing Jasmin on the weekends when I didn't have duty. I finished up my 6 years of enlistment on July the 4th 2007 and now I'm back home in Flachslanden for good where I currently work on the Army installation in Illesheim. I work for the Army Air Force Exchange service in retail, selling TVs, video games, and electronics. In my off time, I'll be working on my art and hopefully getting an online business running eventually.
Do I miss home where I grew up? Sometimes I miss some of the things we did with friends and I miss the summers full of swimming and camping out. I don't have a group of all American hack stars to play hacky sack with over here and that's a bummer. And now that there are such things as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, it's a shame my brother and friends aren't next door or at least within reach. But I enjoy my life in Germany and there're many beautiful sights to see. Although I sometimes think of all the wasted years in the military, there were many years where nothing was accomplished or that I had little time for my family, I still don't think I would change anything because it brought me to where I am now. I'm a young guy who has an awesome wife, a huge house, and new car. Ok the car is getting older now but I bought it new :D
