| | Influences | My grandmother, Betty Nash has always inspired me to be creative and to do what I love. My father has been an influence on me in that he always has turned me on to the good music. My most direct musical influences are Jim Suhler, Kirby Kelley, Bugs Henderson, Rory Gallagher, Warren Haynes, Freddie King, Magic Sam, Andy Timmons, George Thorogood, Angus Young, Mike Morgan, Johnny Winter, Joe Kubek, Lightnin' Hopkins, Son House, Elvis Presley, Omar & The Howlers, Joe Bonamassa, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Charlie Patton, and Doyle Bramhall Sr., just to name a few. | | Sounds Like | A bull in a china closet, someone shouting "FIRE" in a crowded theater, a chainsaw dipped in motor oil, a lion stepping on a monkeys foot

| About Jason Elmore & Hoodoo Witch |
|
Welcome back to real roots-rock-blues music; where, contrary to popular trends, it is definitely hip to be have a mastery over your instrument. That's just what you'll get at a Hoodoo Witch show; three cats who can straight up tell you something with their chosen tools of melodic mischeif. Their unique blend of Texas badassery mixes elements of blues, rock, country, jazz, and roots music; with heavy emphasis on hip-shakin', boogie-time blues rock.
The band has been together for less than a year, but already have garnered a steady-growing fan base reaching from Oklahoma City to Dallas and growing. Fronting the band, on guitar and vocals is Jason Elmore, a fresh guitar-wizard whose young age belies the wealth of experience, maturity, and depth in his playing, singing, and songwriting. His influences are mainly guitar heroes such as Jim Suhler, Bugs Henderson, Kirby Kelley, Rory Gallagher, Billy Gibbons, Warren Haynes, Magic Sam, Johnny Winter, Freddy King, SRV and Jimmy Vaughan, and Joe Bonamassa, just to name a few. His chainsaw-like slide playing is something that is truly unique and undeniably Texan. After spending several years honing his skills in various rock bands, he is at last playing the music that is dearest to his heart, which is the blues. Not to say that at a Hoodoo Witch show you'll hear straight blues, as some of the material, an eclectic mix of original tunes and unusual covers makes you realize that early rock bands like AC/DC, Grand Funk, Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath were just blues bands with a lot of volume and a different approach. Elmore's playing definitely makes this connection apparent, both in his songwriting and guitar playing. Jason also is regularly in demand as a solo acoustic player/singer whose delta and Texas blues style is heavily influenced by the old masters such as Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Elmore James and Son House.
Carrying the bottom end of Hoodoo Witch is Chris Waw, a bass player whose musical palette is as tasteful as it is diverse. Chris has been playing in various bands for many years and has a very solid style, sort of a cross between Allen Woody (gov't mule) and Tommy Shannon (srv) if you will.
On drums and thangs is Beau Chadwell, an educated musician whose mastery over all things that go 'boom' and 'crash' is uncanny. Beau can transition between progressive rock, afro-cuban and jazz into a snaky shuffle that will make you cheer and point.
The band has finished writing and has begun recording a cd of original tunes, to be produced by Jim Suhler, due out hopefully around early 2009. Do yourself a favor and go check out this band. You won't be sorry.
