"It's rare that you see someone take the upright bass into the realms that he does. Yeah, the effects are great, but it's his energy that really comes through. He's not just playing the bass, he's having sex with it." -Max Powers-
Jason Fraticelli has been performing all over the world for the last ten years. Based out of Philadelphia and NY, he has been part of a collective of bands and musicians from all walks of music. Starting with a group called Grandfather Ridiculous, he was part of a Drum and Bass/Jazz Hop sound that helped sculpt his framework for a style that was inclusive to any of music's many flavors. Ever since, his career has been filled with many extraodinary collaborations, performing with Billy Martin, Cyro Baptista, Bobby McFerrin, touring and recording with reagge pop singer Matisyahu, and filling in for Reid Mathis with the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey while playing with the Benevento Russo Duo.
One of Jason's long term and fruitful partnerships has been with vocal/instrumentalist Taylor McFerrin. First meeting in G.R., the two have created a body of work that can be heard today under the heading of a group called The Cell Theory. Along with drummer and producer Nigel Sifantus, the three have just put out their latest record entitled 'Memory is Everything' (available on Itunes).
Recently he has teamed up with Patrick Parker (of Modus Medium) and drummer Tony Catastrophe creating a recording/surround-sound mixing/licensing system, through which his own music has come to life. This has led to the forming of his own group entitled Jason Fraticelli & The Wet Dreams: At times, Rock with a touch of Zapa, and at times, Keltic with a touch of Bela Fleck. Inspired by Ween's ability to jump from world to world musically, JF & The Wet Dreams consists of some of the most talented musicians from Philadelphia who enjoy the realm of multiple personality. Fronting the group on Guitar, Cuatro, and Upright Bass, he funnels all of his music past into the songs and into the sounds. (An EP is now available at bandcamp.com and a full length record is on the way)
Today you can find Jason often in Philly, where the scene is abundant with creativity, talent, and no shortage of great bands and musicians to work with. Whether with his "jazz-infused" rock band As Human (led by vocalist/elecrto-producer Ryat), with the new Gina Ferrera's Worlds in Collision (led by Ferrera on Gyil), or on a random Jazz gig, you will see diferent sides of him with the same underlining pleasure of making music.
Other album releases include:

Leana Song- Orisha Love Songs
