Book Description
Black Abyss could loosely be described as a work of science fiction set in northern Australia in the not-too-distant future. The story revolves around twin gods — The Pulse and the Black Abyss—who together created a universe, which was destroyed when one of their creations discovered the power of creation themselves, and destroyed the balance within their world. Only the two gods survived, without any knowledge of the other one's fate.
The Black Abyss was left to slowly die in its former universe and the pulse was propelled into a new dimension, where it commenced creating a new god. This was a slow process, as, without the Black Abyss, equilibrium would be impossible to maintain if there were any sudden changes of great magnitude. The process, which would take several billion years, would be achieved through evolution.
Eventually it is realized by the book's main characters that the survival of the universe was becoming a race against time, as the Black Abyss finds a window between its universe and ours and attempts to find the Pulse in order to save itself from certain death. They work together to try and unravel the mysteries of this universe and to try and stop their home and everything around them from disappearing forever.

I am a music freak. I have over 3700 albums, basically metal,original cds. I believe that people deserve to be paid for their art, much like anyone who works should be paid.
I am currently heading up a project called Enviro-Metal which will be ongoing, where bands submit a song about an endangered or recently extinct animal in order to raise funds and awareness for the World Wildlife Fund.
I am a volunteer wildlife carer and rescuer for the Wildlife Rescue Service (Native Animal Trust Fund)
I am a vegetarian
Adam (Smith, Ilium) and I are also working on an ongoing conceptual project called Benthos, which will hopefully feature an array of guest artists, but that is probably some time off!
And to top it off I run the myspace page for Ilium, Australian heavy metal mail order specialists Metal Mayhem and tour promoters (and also now a label, which we're on) Just Say Rock.
I have written a novel called Black Abyss, which you can purchase from the online store on this page, iuniverse.com or amazon.com. It's a sci-fi/supernatural thriller novel along the lines of Stephen King meets Dean Koontz. It's based around an Ilium song of the same name and is basically about two gods who get separated at the end of their universe, with one going on to create ours, and havoc being spread when the two are finally reunited!
I am working on a second novel entitled 'Parasite In Calvary' which should see the light of day around about the time we see flying cars! It's getting there though!
I am passionate about animals (not in a kinky niche internet kind of way) and the environment. I have and have had loads of pets including dogs, cats, ferrets, snakes, lizards, turtles, salamanders, frogs, birds and fish.
