Jason Johnston is currently a senior pursuing a bachelor degree in percussion performance under David Bessinger from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. While studying percussion for two years, Jason has learned many works for marimba, including contemporary compositions from composers such as Evelyn Glennie and Daniel Levitan as well as the standard repetoire from composers such as Gordon Stout and Paul Creston. In addition to being an avid percussionist, Jason Johnston is also an aspiring composer. After winning a composition contest with a choral composition based on the folk hymn "Be Thou My Vision", Jason has begun to branch out and write pieces for solo marimba, solo vibraphone, percussion ensemble, piano, string orchestra, string quartet, and many other instruments.
