Zombie Wife (2007) - By Brian Morton

If you love low budget horror as much as I do, then you're probably as sick of zombies as I am. They come in every shape and form, there are groups of zombies, zombie loners, zombie kids, zombie sheep...you name it and it's probably been zombified! Well, I just got a short film from Jason Knuth, the co-writer of A Bowlful Of Happiness (that I saw and loved at last years It Came From Lake Michigan Film Festival), zombifies his wife, but in a very different way!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, Jason does what alot of us have dreamed of...killed off his wife! Yep, the Zombie Wife of the title is Jason's actual wife, so maybe there was some underlying thing here that Jason might want to work out in therapy...just kidding! Zombie Wife is the story of a man who argues all the time with his wife, then one day, after a particularly bad argument says, "I wish you were dead!" and the next thing you know, his wish is granted, his wife is killed in a car accident. But, just because someone is dead, doesn't mean they're gone, and, as is often the case in these zombie movies, his wife is home waiting for him when he gets home from her funeral!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zombie Wife offers the same tongue-in-cheek humor that we saw in A Bowlful Of Happiness, it's obviously played for laughs. And, while the budget is low...very close to non-existent, most likely, the movie is still charming. Jason's love of the genre, and film in general, really comes through, and, while the movie is fun, it's probably the outtakes that had me laughing the most. The cast seemed to be made up of people who genuinely liked each other and the graveside outtakes featuring Jason and William P. Zenobia seemed ad-libed and had me laughing out loud! Zombie Wife is really a love note from Jason to the genre, and it's very well done. I can't wait to see what Jason can do with a bigger budget. You can check out Zombie Wife, and get a copy for yourself by going to Jason's MySpace page. If you love the zombie genre, or just need a good laugh, then Zombie Wife will fill the bill, I'm giving it four out of four cigars, just for the fun and the passion that I can see in the movie. So, until next time, when I'll tell you about my zombie wife...well, she's not a zombie, I just bore her very much, until them, remember that the best movies are bad movies.

REVENGE OF THE NERDLE .
By LOUIS FOWLER .
Happiness is a fun indie comedy A BOWLFUL OF HAPPINESS
Starring Jason Knuth, Melissa Sell, Holly Numan.
Directed by Kelly Marcott.
Rusty Robot Productions.

In its scant 30-minute running time, A Bowlful of Happiness made me laugh harder and more often than most of the comedies I saw in the theaters last year. At one point, I started choking and had to pause the damn thing. That happens so rarely these days that when it does, I have to make note of it.
As soon as Jason Knuth as Geoffrey (pronounced Joff-ree) P. Nerdle, an overweight, bean-slurping, comic-book loving, possibly retarded, mama’s boy shows up, shoveling pork and beans down his mouth, we know we’re in for a treat. Knuth’s take on this socially inept character is pure gold, with every line and movement guffaw-inducing. In once scene, he gets so excited trying to open a package of Sea Monkeys that he has to stop and take a breath.
The plot is a ’70s-drenched take on Little Shop of Horrors: Nerdle has to feed his precious Sea Monkeys human flesh and blood in order to satiate their hunger, but the way it’s carried out is what makes the film so appealing. Instead of focusing directly on the murders, we focus on Nerdle’s insipid vision of the world while committing the crimes. But plot be darned. Even if the film were just 30 minutes of Nerdle in his basement, talking about whatever is on his mind, it would be worth it.
I will gladly proclaim myself an unabashed fan of this film and cannot wait to see the further adventures of Nerdle in the recently announced A Bowlful of Happiness 2.

This is also the page for actor Jason Knuth. Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Knuth burst onto the scene with a striking performance in the independant film, A Bowlful of Happiness (2006). His portrayal of Geoffrey P. Nerdle earned him critical acclaim and a following that continues to this day. He also co wrote the screen play with director Kelly Marcott. The film went on to win an award at the 2006 It Came From Lake Michigan film festival in Racine, WI.
Following "Bowlful", Knuth and Marcott teamed up to write the sequel. Currently that is in pre production.
In early 2007, Jason joined the cast and crew of "Peek A Boo". The short film starred William P. Zenobia (Tagged), Knuth and introduced child actress, Star Boots. It was a more dramatic shift for Jason. The role opened up more opportunities for better collabarations.
Mid-2007, Knuth took on the task of writing and directing his first film. The well received "Zombie Wife" is his vision. "I am real excited to do this on my own. Whether its good or bad, its mine and i am proud." Knuth said. It stars his wife, Beth and William P. Zenobia. Its a story of regret. Mainly, it's a Zombie flick. FX guru Jim Bett, JR did the makeup. It was screened to a rounding applause at It Came From Lake Michigan Film Fest 2007.
Always open to any indea, Knuth is willing to try anything. For more information on booking, leave a message here. Hope to hear from you.
