The Jason Shannon Band is a four-piece rock and roll outfit from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Specializing in driving guitars, funked-out keyboards, soulful vocals/harmonies held down by a heavy groove. Shannon, the principle songwriter/arranger, and his group collaborate to produce a sound reminiscent of early-era Wilco and The Band with hints of pop, rock, and roots reggae. The band completed a 2009 nationwide tour and will be hitting the road from May through September in support of monthly single releases that will be accompanied by videos and studio footage.
I think I see you at the cafe down the street from me once and a while. I talked a bit with you the one time you came to Plum's in St Paul (I think with Ashleigh). How was 10K? I was playing up there at the Blue Ox campground. Lucy Michelle played there too.
Have fun at the Fine Line--I'm playing a free show there next Monday night (Aug. 3rd) with something like a full band (e.g. accordion, piano, guitars, djembe, violin, backup vocals).
I forgot to say listen to Sleep Tonight. What a awesome song. I don't need to sell it. Just listen to it. Jason has tapped into his own way music writing and music. I'm not bragging because of being kin to him. You check for yourselves.
I retired for playing 3 years ago. I was stuck doing the local thing. It's great to see you put yourself out there like that. You do have what it takes. I talked to your dad this morning and told him the same thing. Not many songs stick in my head nowdays Maricle Mile and Son's And Daughters are awesome.
