The Jason White Trio combines harmonic and structural ideas from the jazz music of 1900-1940 with much more modern compositional and improvisational concepts, such as rhythmic phasing and functional dissonance. The group’s goal in any performance is to create musical dialogue between the players at all times through imitation, accompaniment, and a desire to stretch current melodic, harmonic, and structural aesthetics in jazz, while retaining a good measure of accessibility to the listener. D. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . It is quite common to hear the group suddenly leave the form of a piece to play a groove for several minutes, a highly dynamic free improvisation, or even a Radiohead cover. Ask us to show you Jason’s impressions of Thelonius Monk or Oscar Peterson, Joe’s Art Blakey, or Tomas’ Charles Mingus. Our music is a fusion of many styles, borrowing from, among others, Classical, Post-Modernist, Bop, Rock, and Classic Jazz styles of music.
The Jason White Trio has been seen all over Southern Ontario during its 5-year career. Some local notable venues include: the Centre in the Square, the Art Bar, the Walper Terrace Hotel, the grand opening of Gallery Double T and the 2001 Olympic Fundraiser and Publicity Unveiling in Toronto.
We are always interested in new projects and collaborations; if you have an idea for us to try, we will heed you.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . THIS BAND IS ALSO AVAILABLE TO PLAY DINNER JAZZ ENGAGEMENTS (more ambient). . . . . 519-569-7862

Hey Jason, good to hear from you. Right now I am living in Toronto working as a music therapist in a nursing home and a group home. I am also designing jewellery in my spare time. Don't really have time for much else past that though. It sounds like your trio is doing it up pretty big right now, that's awesome. And you have so many students...when do you sleep? Glad you're doin well.

Great tunes. Interplay Maniac is tres Hip, and Never Let me Go is great. You won't see me at wing night this week, still recovering from surgery, but should be back next week.
