The Jason Wu Collection is a manifestation of the eclectic and diverse background of its designer Jason Wu. Born in Taipei, but having also lived in Vancouver, Paris and Tokyo, he combines modern evening dressing with the spirit and detailing of haute couture in a way that is both innovative and romantically reflective.
Influenced by the classic photography of Richard Avedon and the collections of Charles James and Jacques Fath, Wu celebrates the female form by emphasizing a women’s hourglass silhouette while utilizing the most luxurious fabrications and detailing.
For his Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Collection Jason added an element of quirky whimsy to his ladylike collection. He presented a collection of colorful separates including bright cashmeres, embroidered sheath dresses, relaxed boucle jackets and jewel-tone chiffon evening dresses.
Jason continues to receive accolades including Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award for Women’s Ready-to-Wear in January 2008 and in July 2008 he was named one of the finalists in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The Jason Wu collection is carried at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman and the young fashion star is a favorite among press, stylists and celebrities including Charlize Theron, Lucy Liu and Kerry Washington.
