About me: Great Wilderness is a California-based, international organization with a mission to sustain the narrow band of planetary conditions needed to ensure the survival of our species as well as all life on Earth. We believe that protecting large, intact wilderness areas, inclusive of the diverse human cultures that call these areas home, is a critical factor in maintaining Earth's life support system - the unique balance of climate, chemistry and food webs upon which we all depend.
Our name is derived from Jatun Sacha, which in the language of the Incas means Great Wilderness. We invite you to join us in protecting Earth's last great wilderness areas!
