This is "Java Monkey"! This band keeps the audience moving to the beat and listening to a combination of great songs.... originals mixed with classic R&B, funky instrumentals, blues, rock, soul, and some of their own trademark style of well-known songs that everyone likes!
The name Java Monkey refers to the fixation, some may say an almost addiction, to caffeine - and the one vice you choose not to give up. That urge to want more...yes, maybe another cup, just one more! Just like the band Java Monkey, itself, and the impulse to get hooked. You’ll want more, more, more......just keep it hot and keep it coming!
Our influences are many and varied: 60's music like the Beatles, the Stones, mixed with varied Blues Artists - with the base being some old R & B artists like: Marvin Gaye, the Rev. Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, 4 Tops, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Drifters. Then add some southern sounds like the Allman Brothers mixed with good time music like Van Morrison and Steely Dan and mix it with some Eric Clapton, Little Feat, Bonnie Rait...I know, I know - that's a wide variety of different styles, but that's who we are. It's blues, funk, R&B, soul, rock - it's all the Good Stuff!!
Java Monkey was created by guys who were friends and studio musicians, and we wanted an outlet for playing "live" music with each other - it grew from there!
Sounds Like
We have a southern - old school R&B flavor, blues mixed with rock, a little jazz, and some country. Two of us were in the recording group "MOSE JONES". One of Atlanta Georgia's popular bands - frequently seen backing up Atlanta's well known diva FRANCINE REED (part of Lyle Lovett's Band for over 20 years - has her own CD's as well) < www.java-monkey.com/francinereed.htm >.
Band members have been session players and recorded/toured with artists: .38 Special, Ted Nugent, Joan Baez, Francine Reed, Atlanta Ryhthm Section, Johnny Van Zant, Dr. Hook, Ben E. King, Mose Jones, Derick Trucks, Atlanta and more. Plus members in the band recorded many blues sessions for the now defunct Record label "Ichiban Records". Two of the members, Steve McRay & Marvin Taylor (along with our original drummer BRYAN COLE), were in the 70's recording group MOSE JONES, produced by Al Kooper, and later Buddy Buie (producer/songwriter for Atlanta Rhythm Section) and recorded at the once famous, sometimes infamous, and now defunct "STUDIO ONE" in Doraville, Ga. Also, Steve, Marvin, Bryan, and Michael were all in the Atlanta based group "OUT A HAND" Band, formed by Randy Lewis (original member of MOSE JONES).
Java Monkey is: -
Steve McRay - Keyboard, Keyboard Bass, & Vocals ; Marvin Taylor - Guitar ; Michael Bastedo - Alto Sax, Soprano Sax, Harp, Zendrum, & Vocals ; John Holder - Drums & Vocals
This band plays a mix of old school Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Classic Rock, Jazz, and their own Originals - kind of a funky soulful mixture of southern fun music...makes you want to move and dance...it's got a GROOVE!
And since the band was formed back in 1990, the Java Monkey name was "cool" way before the coffee buzz and the whole Starbucks (on every corner) thing really hit the scene - you know, before caffeine coolness came into vogue. This band was ahead of the curve...it was all that cool caffeine they were drinking and the good music they were playing! They definitely got their GROOVE ON!!

I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.
I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
Thanks
