Born in Spain from a Cuban father and an Irish mother. The last of six children, Javi started playing the guitar when at 12 years old, he left Madrid to attend boarding school in Ireland. After 2 1/2 years the Franciscan Headmaster told him that even-though he loved hearing his music in the school halls Javier's behavior would be better suited in another school. So he moved with his father in Miami and attended Coral Gables Snr. High.
By the age of twenty he released his first CD with Fonovisa simultaneously in the Latin markets of U.S.A., Puerto Rico , Europe, Mexico and South America. He achieved gold record sales in three countries with a funky Latin Rock fusion. His first single "Tranquila" went to the top of the charts " (J.G.) ...I think Tranquila turned into a success because it has an uplifting quality about it , and people all over are dying to dance to some killer Cuban rhythms mixed with whatever... but the real need is for roots, that's what I offer."
After touring for a few years he focused on his second album, which he produced together with multi Grammy Award Winner Gustavo Santaolalla. Universal Music will launch his second album on March 2005. Some of the musicians in the album include Arturo Sandoval, world renowned trumpet player, Abe Laboriel Jr.(Paul Mc Cartney's drummer), Smithsonian inducted "living treasure" Francisco Aguabella on batá, etc...
"(Gustavo Santaolalla)... I think this album will make a mark in the world of music..."

Que tal Javier? Lastnight at The Conga Room was definately a BIG surpirse. I had no idea you were gonna be performing at the official grand opening. I was actually DJing a gig down the street at Broadway Bar & took a peak for about an hour & glad i got a taste of your music en vivo. Keep me posted how long you will be in Los Angeles & if you have any other gigs in Southern California these next few days.
