Bio
.. Consumed with the magic of the guitar sound, Javi at the early age of 13 began taking music seriously. Guided by a private instructor, he managed to create his first songs at the age of 15. // With a heavy influence by vintage and classic rock groups ranging from the Beatles to Aerosmith, Javi formed his own style and sound, which can be fully experienced in black:guayaba’s first album: “Lo Demás Es Plástico”, a record he not only co-produced with his bandmates in his recording studio known as Rockpit, but also received multiple Grammy nominations in 2006. // Javi’s creative flow transcends music. He has a second developing career as an architectural student and has done several advertising works that range from scores and graphic design works for more than 10 advertising campaigns in Puerto Rico. // In black:guayaba’s second album, due in stores in early September, and released by the new Powerhouse of Latin Labels, Universal’s Machete Music, Javi not only has shown his maturity in style and sounds, but also as a record producer. With an eclectic sound that combines classic and provocative guitar sounds with new guitar riffs, Javi consolidates himself as a true and pure guitar sound lover, bringing the classic sound upfront in a new age of digital recording. // Currently sponsored by Gibson Guitars and M-Audio, earned through his music and live performances, Javi has made his mission to “bring back the strong guitar based element in the Latin rock scene, bringing back the vintage sounds to a modern Latin rock platform. // Javi’s actual set up includes a Marshall JCM800 and a Vox AC50 of which he says “Vox brings a unique sound which is not often used in the Latin rock world, I am hoping that newcomers get more into it” // Javi uses Gibson guitars as its main source of guitar power. ........ .. -
