JAWEN is comprised of Olivier and Nicolas.Influenced by 70's Soul, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Reggae and Rock, they grew up amidst their older DJ brother funk and soul record collection.At the age of fifteen they began playing local clubs in different groups.A few years later , Nico enrolled at the Berklee college in Boston to learn Jazz music.In the meantime Olivier crossed the Channel and ended up in London.Back to France Olivier and Nico held concerts with different artists:"the soul brothers" were ready to begin their story.They started writing songs in their homestudio.In the spring of 2004 they met Yann Cortella, producer-musician, who gave them the last ingredients to make music sound good.
Recorded entirely in their homestudio, JAWEN's E.P., "soul degree", brings to mind the classic sound of artists such as Curtis Mayfield, Al Green.....have a look at the influences and make up your mind! "No matter how to live".Enjoy!

JAWEN est un groupe français qui chante en « anglais ». Il est composé d’Olivier et Nicolas, deux frères unis par le liens du sang et de la musique.
Dès leur adolescence, ils écument les scènes avec différentes formations.Par la suite, Nicolas décide de partir à Boston pour passer deux années au sein de la Berklee college of music. Olivier de son côté s’exile à Londres pour vivre pleinement la culture anglo-saxonne.
De retour en France, différentes collaborations s’offrent à eux :ils jouent notamment avec le groupe B’s garage (1er partie de Bumcello, le peuple de l’herbe), Michaël Robinson (Quincy Jones ,les Rita Mitzouko...), Cyril Taïeb, Yann Cortella. Parallélement, Olivier écrit des textes pour des artistes (Charles West du Golden Gate quartet, Cyril Taïeb…), et apparaît sur le single « I feel » de Cortella.
Nicolas collabore aussi avec des groupes de Hip-Hop indépendants et se produit dans des salles comme le Divan Du Monde,le Réservoir, le Tryptique, le Glaz’art…
Fort de ces expériences, JAWEN décident de s’écarter de la capitale pour s’installer dans la campagne normande afin d’écrire, composer, produire leur premier opus. Plus d’une année de création voit naître «TWO».
Enregistré entièrement dans leur studio et mixé par Yann Cortella (réalisateur des mythiques "Genre Humain", " les Palaces " de Brigitte Fontaine), l'album "Two" offre 10 titres aux confluents de la Soul, de la Pop et du Jazz.
Avec des morceaux comme " one 2, 2 is V ", " America ", " Straight Ahead " ou encore " Sex On The Beach ", JAWEN s'installe en imposant son style.
Sur scène "JAWEN" se compose d'Olivier (Vocals) et Nicolas (Guitar).
Yann Cortella(J.Higelin, B.Fontaine, Indochine, Louis...) à la basse; Thomas Cassis(Julien Daian Quintet) aux claviers, Octave Ducasse à la batterie .
