Jax,

I recently read Promise to Believe and enjoyed the story and the characters. I also liked the atmosphere of the novel, the pre-disaster New Orleans. Your novel gives the reader a real sense of place and time. Since the narrative is first-person, I got a strong sense of Griffin, the main character, who is a young professional woman. The story seems almost a ghost story at times, but it’s always a story of romance and destiny. I could really "believe" in these characters. Brava!

Jax,

Thanks so much for leaving such nice comments about The Phoenix of the Opera on my profile. It's especially nice to have a thumbs up from someone with as much experience as you have in writing romance novels. I'm enjoying wondering how everything is going to work out between Mark and Griffin in Promise to Believe.

Cheers, Sadie

Jax,

Thanks for the comment about The Phoenix of the Opera. Interesting that you have a slightly different take on Raoul and Christine's relationship this time viewing the movie. I love the detail of their locking the doors at the opera house. Your comment about the fire is also an aspect that struck me (resonances of old Frankenstein movies). I know that there are certain aspects of Don Juan Triumphant that are linked to the Phantom story itself. I love that the Phantom takes on several different roles (Red Death in the Masquerade, Don Juan Triumphant on stage). I suppose I was conscious of many associations between the Phantom and Don Juan, but often the text itself takes on a life after you write it and aspects strike you in a way that you might not have foreseen.

Don Juan Triumphant is certainly embedded in the story of the Phantom. If you get the third novel, The Phantom's Opera, you'll see that I use Don Juan Triumphant again.

Hugs and Happy Trick o Treatin' Sadie
