A Borderless music..!!! By artfully blending traditional elements and sounds with modernity from West and Carribean with Asian fineness, JAYASRI has managed to create a style that is uniquely them. No strangers to the happy blending of the East and West, JAYASRI today occupy a top spot in the world music talent list, often being call upon to enliven cultural events, Festivals, Tours in all continents with their particular brand of rhythm and energetic motion.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------With the influence of their idols such as Marley, Bowie, Floyd, Shankar, Khan, the 6 members multicultural band goes through different music clashes like Asian DUB + Ragga + Reggae + Roots + Dancehall + Traditional Asian (Sri Lanka, India) & African riddims and chants + Chillout and Hip hop........a Rhythmic Firework!---------------------------------------------------JAYASRI.. s creativity expands through film music (Uberto Pasolini..s "Machan", Boodee Keerthisena..s "Mille Soya-Bonjourno Italia" etc...) and has opened and performed with such international artists as Third World, UB40, Alpha Blondy, Inner Circle, Wailers, Temptations, Falco,....etc.....also crowned by achieving the winners of the Austrian World Music Award 2003 from 77 international bands. The two JAYASRI albums “Mod Goviya” and “Sundaree” brought several Nr.1 Hits locally and charts in World music Channels worldwide. “Saamya-Peace” song from the brand new album (2007) has brought unity vibes to the long time war torn land Sri Lanka and Jayasri continues with their cult status in their homeland, spreading the message of Peace, Love and Unity. JAYASRI musik kennt keine grenzen.....weil sie stimmen für drei kontinente sind.
diese multi-kulti-formation sind routinierte musiker aus asien, afrika, carribic und europa. die 6 köpfige band geht musikalisch unterschiedliche pfade. von asian DUB, ragga, reggae, dancehall, hiphop, asian chillout mit traditionellen rythmen (sri Lanka,indien), afrika über elemente westlicher musik und carribischen klängen.
eine band mit symbolik, aussagekraft und einer ladung gebalter energie! dieser mix wird auf der bühne zu einem überzeugenden live-act mit kompakten, groovige sound und coolen vibrations! ganz im derzeitigen trend liegend, beeindruckt die band dabei durch authentische kompositionen ebenso wie durch darbietung respektierter cover-versionen.
JAYASRI spielte auf namenhaften festivals mit internationalen künstlern wie Third World,Alpha Blondy, UB40, Inner Circle, Wailers, falco, the Temptations, usw....... auch tourneen in europa, nord & süd amerika, mittleren osten und asien haben sie erfolgreich absolviert. dadurch waren ihre Albums ..mod goviya.. und ..sundaree.. monate lange in den heimischen top charts und weltweit in der world musik sender charts. die Krönung der musikalischen leistungen für JAYASRI war der 1.platz von 77 bands für den österreichischer world music preis 2003 (Austrian World Music Award 2003). an die hundertausend begeisterte menschen jubelten um die jahreswende in colombo, der hauptstadt Sri Lankas beim neujahrskonzert, als Jayasri ihren hit „Saamaya-Peace“(neue album 2006) anstimmte. der song, der das friedliche zusammenleben zwischen sinhalesen und tamilen auf der insel propagiert, wurde zur friedenshymne des landes, berichtet Rohitha J. vom kultstatus der band in ihrer heimat.
JAYASRI ist nicht nur eine band die die leute zum tanzen bringen, sondern vielmehr leben sie in ihrer musik und richten damit eine positive botschaft von toleranz, frieden und zusammengehörigkeit an alle menschen!
