In today’s competitive pop market, authenticity is a tough quality to come by. Rare enough is finding a pop act who actually writes the music they perform, but one who can write, perform, and produce their own music is relatively unheard of in the generic assembly line that has unfortunately become the pop music industry. Jaydon wants to shatter that stereotype.
Composed of Belmont University students Jake Hartsfield and Andrew Jeter, Jaydon is a pop rock duo who crafts the kind of catchy melodies you find yourself humming in the shower days after listening. Jaydon can truly be considered “do it yourself,” as both Hartsfield and Jeter are responsible for the lyrics, instrumentation, performance, recording, and production of their songs.
Hartsfield, a sophomore, and Jeter, a freshman, met through their shared interest in audio production and formed a strong bond over a mutual love of melody-driven, often acoustic-based pop rock songs. Both already have extensive production client lists at Belmont and have impressive catalogs of original music. Shortly after meeting, they began swapping production tips and later decided to rework some of their own individual music so that they could record and perform the songs together.
Thus Jaydon was born. One song that Hartsfield and Jeter began collaboration on right off the bat was Hartsfield’s “Amongst Stars.” The song features both Hartsfield and Jeter on vocals, with Hartsfield tracking all of the keys, bass, and vocals himself in the personal studio he has built in his dorm room. The track features Jeb Holmes on guitar, and fellow Nashville producer and Lorién drummer Thomas Doeve on drums. The result is an infectiously heartfelt pop number, and an impressive first shot by a still young act.
Hartsfield also contributed the duo’s single “Mr. Darcy,” which was recorded almost entirely in Hartsfield’s summer studio (with the exception of drums, which were tracked at Doeve’s studio and performed by fellow Belmont musician and producer Ryan McFadden). This upbeat, intensely catchy track is now available for download on ITunes and Amazon.com.
Fans of Jaydon left wanting more don’t fret—the duo has already written several new songs together and has an album planned for summer 2009.

Hello ~ thank you for being a friend of Moonwarriors. 800 dogs & cats are killed every hour in the US, often by inhumane methods such as gassing or heart sticking. This cruel disposal of homeless & stray animals is paid for by your taxes. Sponsors of petitions promoting no-kill alternatives have shown that it would be more cost effective & humane to fund spay-neuter programs, adoption schemes & sanctuaries.
"What is unconscionable, abominable and outrageous is that animals, healthy and well-behaved, are being killed because someone says there are too many. That is something we do not accept. That is something we find intolerable" - Richard Avanzino, President, San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (1997)
