"Every so often, the discerning music listener is lucky enough to come across an album that stands a cut above the rest and shines as something truly brilliant." (Rip It Up Magazine, Australia)
"The combination of genres ... allows the band to incorporate a brilliant array of sounds and musicians with each bringing an extraordinary energy to the often complacent roots genre." (dB Magazine, Australia)

Funk, Reggae, Jazz, Latin, Blues, Australian Tribal all mixed together
The Jay Hoad Band is an extremely high energy six piece band... with a beautiful belly dancer. Hoad’s creative compositions blend funk, rock, reggae, latin, pop and jazz with traditional Australian influences punctuated by dynamic horn infused arrangements and unique blends of instrumentation. Similar artists that Hoad counts among his influences are Michael Franti, John Butler, Xavier Rudd, Bob Marley, Jamie Cullum, James Brown, and Jack Johnson.
Born in Fiji, Hoad hails from South Australia where he earned his University degree in jazz performance. Jay then left Australia to tour the USA and Europe with the Australian Jazz Quartet and has since played acoustic and electric bass with Dionne Warwick, the Temptations, the Drifters, Blood Sweat & Tears among others. In 2007 Jay temporarily settled in the United States to concentrate on writing and performing with his newly formed group, the Jay Hoad Band.
In 2009 the band released their highly anticipated multi-genre debut album "Warmth in the White" which was written whilst on tour in Australia in early 2008 and recorded in the US later that year. Hoad’s composition "Rat Race" was a recent runner up in the 2008 Australian Songwriter’s Association competition. Song lyrics, although delivered in a fun and exciting manner, focus on many controversial subjects including environmental issues, political contradiction and many other random observations culled from his world travels. Jay plays up to 15 instruments throughout the CD and during his live shows including acoustic bass, electric bass, didgeridoo, dobro, lap steel guitar, 12-string guitar, ocarina and more.
The Jay Hoad Band is affiliated with and relies on the support of several environmentally responsible organizations while they embark on an accelerating touring schedule at clubs and as featured festival performers, dividing their time between North America, Australia, South Asia, the Caribbean and Europe.
