Janani Logendran ("Jay"), from Plymouth, Minnesota, is a solo artist and songwriter. She got her first acoustic guitar on Christmas of 2005 and ever since then she has been composing her own music and lyrics. She finally decided to go somewhere with her music and started recording in the fall of 2007. After two 12 hour sessions at Winterland Studios (New Hope, MN) she had her first recorded EP.
Janani's passion for music hasn’t always been for the guitar but for various instruments as well. Her Sri Lankan roots and her family have taught her a lot about music, especially her mother, Mary Logendran, who got Janani started at a young age. She has played the Trumpet for 7 years, Mellophone for her marching band, and was a stand in French Horn player for her high school band class, of which she was appointed president. Janani's first performance with a band and in front of a microphone was done at her high school’s Garage Band Fest, where she and her fellow classmates played an original song that was written by her. She soon got very comfortable playing in front of crowds at high school pep fests, small charities, and local restaurants.
She attended the University of Minnesota until she knew she had would only be happy with music in her future. Currently, she goes to Mcnally Smith College of Music and plays shows at local venues like Trocaderos and The Dinkytowner, and her biggest show at the Northrop Auditorium. She hopes to get more time in the studio to record the many songs she has written, and eventually establish a career in the music industry.

We're putting together a website for our band, and we're wondering if you'd like to say something you thought about us, and we could put it on the site and have a link to your myspace or something.

Good to here that you're doing well. I never took the test, because I am getting a masters in public health first, before I go to medical school, but I have to start studying soon and take the test for sure in august '09... Good luck on finals and music school. :)

things are just peachy. =) although, I am a bit stressed all the same. how is 2nd year going for you? I wanna come visit you at the U again sometime! this time I'll bring my guitar - I've actually learned a song! perfecting it is the problem. =P lol. it's really hard to get good tone with my guitar even though I had it repaired this summer; when I play on anyone else's it sounds fine.
