Jay Marriott, Patent exploding guitarist's Details
I was born January 15th 1973, to Lorriane and Brian at the Nightingale nursing home on London Rd Derby.
I have one bother Lee and three half brothers, Melvin, Steven and Carl.
Lee was born in August 1975 and we grew up like most normal kids in this time, no I pod, computers, Playstation, DVD players etc etc.
We were brought up on Rainbow, Playschool, Magpie, Jamie and his magic torch, Evil Kenievil, Action Man, power cuts and worst of all domestic violence.
I as a very small child can remember my mum and dad fighting, with knifes, fist's, chunky 70's glass ashtrys, blood etc, I can still remember it like it was last week.
A few years go by, and nothing really changed, though i was dragged into the sordid world of affairs.
Yes both my mum and dad had them, the only thing was i never knew about my dad's flings, it was what my mum told me.
When my dad worked shifts, my mum would go and meet this other man/men. Was this the only happiness she found to get away from the old mans fist's?.
I always knew somthing wasn't quite right, when she always met these people when dad was out at work, or she'd make an excuse to take me out and then she'd go and meet them.
There was peace at last, when dad went into hospital to have surgery on his back, then it all kicked off again when mum finally had the guts to pack up and leave him in 1980.
From the period of 1980 to 1983, I had three schools to go to, and two homes to live in, not by choice, but because my brother and I were constantly going backward and forwards between our mum and dad, whilst dodging the fist's, knifes and other choice cutlery.
After having enough of barricading the front door to stop it from being kicked in, my mothers nerves were shot, and could take no more, to keep the peace, me and Lee went back to live with dad in 1983.
We thought that would be the end of it, but oh no, we went through another four glorius years of, drinking, physical and mental abuse, not to mention dad had a new girl friend, with four kids. So i was the oldest and had to babysit, while them two went out on the piss Monday to Sunday.
Not all was bad, I had an escape from hell for four hours a week, I joined the army cadets and did realy well for the three years I was there.
I met some great people there, who i still know till this day.
It was my new found friends who gave me the strength to stick up for myself, and after a few black eyes and nose bleeds, I had the balls to run away from him and went back to live with my mum in 1987, which Lee followed the month after.
Things looked up now the violence had gone, but the scars still remain, my mum had found religion, my dad, who knows, who cares, he was still drinking and slapping his way through life.
I still have a lump in my throat when i see him, I still feel like the teenager I was then back in the 1980's, mind you the last fight we had was ten years ago, back in 1997, he was pissed and he attacked me and tried to throw me down a flight of stairs.
(YAWN), Anyway, I'm doing ok now. I'm married, no children, I own my own home, and a little dog, nice car and a job that i love doing. I play guitar/sing in a band, I have a hell of a lot of amazing friends, who i've stumbled across the last 17 years, some are dead, most are living.
I would thank all of my close friends, who know who you are for helping me get through these years and showed me that there is another side to life.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
