Barefoot and with her Fedora tilted to one side Singer/Songwriter Jayme Salviati’s comfortable attitude and quiet confidence have been intriguing audiences for years. It’s her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, however that keep fans flocking to her shows. While Salviati’s musical influences include artists such as Sheryl Crow, Missy Higgins and Jason Reeves her ever evolving acoustic sound is all her own. “It’s real,” says Jayme about her sound. “I’m not being anyone but myself.”
Salviati’s journey to the stage began early when she received a keyboard as a gift at the age of nine. By the time she was in high school Jayme decided to take her music to the next level by learning to play the guitar. “Immediately I just started writing and writing and writing,” says Salviati about this time in her life. Eventually she had written enough material and saved enough money to record her first EP, “Destination Fiji.”
College breathed new life into Salviati’s music. Truly away from home for the first time, she drew inspiration from her new surroundings, new friends and especially her new love. Jayme put all she was feeling to paper and in 2003 recorded “A Drop of Golden Sun.” “The content matured,” says Salviati, “and I started to develop my sound. I started writing songs that people could connect to.”
Her performing opportunities also expanded as a student at Shepherd University. Salviati began playing at local coffee shops and clubs as well as festivals and school events. She won Shepherd’s Battle for Shepfest three years in row opening for such acts as Sugarcult and Syd at the University’s annual festival. Jayme also regularly books Frederick First Saturday in Frederick, MD and has even been featured on Backstage Pass, a local television show.
In 2006, her next EP “From Now On” quickly sold out and by the end of 2007 Jayme was in the studio again working on “Partly Sunny, Chance of Rain.” “I am so anxious for everyone to hear the new material. I have grown so much. I just hope that people will be able to connect to it.”
With the new EP now on sale, Salviati is already preparing for her next recording project and continuing to book new venues including Zero Pak in Winchester, VA, The Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown, MD and the Cadillac Ranch in Nashville, TN. “I love to play anywhere they’ll let me.”
