In the tradition of Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige and Australia’s own Renee Geyer comes a new live album packed with soul. Jayne-Anne Power Live is the latest offering from Adelaide Diva Jayne-Anne Power.
Recorded during the Adelaide Fringe Festival ‘Live’ is a collection of her songs reinvented for an unplugged format. “We wanted a really laid back feel without sacrificing any of the passion or punch in the songs. I think that’s what we got” says Jayne-Anne.
Since releasing her debut album, Substance has brought Jayne-Anne to the attention of audiences around the world. “I get album sales and royalty statements from the craziest places. Last week I found out NBC had used Not Sorry on Universal TV in the U.S.”.
Closer to home, she also collaborated with Hip-Hop band The Levitators on their critically acclaimed music video Cabin Fever. “I emailed them one day and said how much I’d like to collaborate. Since then I have recorded on their album and played some gigs. Recording the music video was so much fun!”. More collaborations follow this year.
Jayne-Anne has been performing constantly in Adelaide as well as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and various festivals. Her reputation for her powerhouse vocal style mixed with a slick band and femme fatale attitude has recently gained her reviews such as “exquisite vocal range and superb talent” (fasterlouder.com) and “Ultra funky, gritty old skool grooves, superb song writing, all wrapped up in a beautiful voice” (The Opera Bar, Sydney). Its reviews like this that have caused her reputation - and appreciative audiences - to grow.
Jayne-Anne Power Live delivers on her reviewers’ rave. Her original material is at once vintage and edgy, an unquestionable nod to the past while pushing the boundaries of now. It captures the inspiring essence of a sweltering hot night with an exceptional band, a brilliant vocal artist and an appreciative crowd at one of the best festivals in the world.
