Me on vocals, guitar and piano, usually Matt Stalker (myspace.com/mattjstalker) joins me with cracking additional guitar parts and backing vocals. More recent additons to the line - up include Phil Smith on double Bass, and Chris Hedley on percussion.
Influences
I cant really pinpoint any band/artist who has had an impact on my music, I dont think I particularly sound like, or have a style similar to anyone I've heard before - if you think I sound like anyone then let me know.
I love loads of different artists/bands from many different genres and styles of music, I'll name just a few - In no particular order!
Jill paquette, Jennifer Knapp, Phatfish, Jason Mraz, Pete Murray, Superchick, Ella fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, KT Tunstall, Delerious, Aqualung, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette, Cathy Burton, Nicki Rogers, Casting crowns, Silers Bald, Lucie Silvas, Regina Spektor, James Taylor, Dixie Chicks, Alison Kraus, Emmy Lou Harris, Jack Johnson, Tina Dico, Kings of convenience, John Mayer, Aretha Franklin, Sarah McLaughlan, The Carpenters, Damien Rice, Eva Cassidy, Reana, Beccy Owen, Rebecca St. James, Nichole Nordeman, Coldplay-I could go on and on.
I have been singing since I was fifteen, playing the piano since I was eleven and picked up the guitar when I was about 21.
I have sang at various events such as Spring Harvest and I still sing at the Keswick convention, with the occasional extra conference/convention thrown in for good measure!! At these events I mainly just sing, and do the occasional concert of my own and a jazz gig (or two!). I have also led worship at the ECM conferences. I am one of the regular worship leaders at the amazing Bethany Christian centre in Houghton-le-spring as well!
I cant really say I have a 'band' as such. At Spring harvest and Keswick we have a pretty tight band, if we all lived in the same place it would be great if these guys made up my permanent band..... but sadly they are mainly based in London!! I need to get some local musicians on board I think!
All the bands I have worked with at events are amazing, I'm so priveliged to be able to work with (and count as friends) some of the most well known and respected musicians in the country.
I think I was about twelve when I wrote my first song, i think it was quite good considering my age.... I played it in church infront of about 500 people - I had guts!!
I have been seriously writing songs for about ten years now, most of them are based in life experiences and emotions I have expressed through music. I am a Christian so naturally my music is bathed in what my life is based upon - which is my belief in God. This doesn't mean that my songs are exclusively and blatantly about God - though some are. I write about whatever I'm feeling, or seeing going on around me.
Generally when I perform, it's just me, a piano and guitar - and my awesomely talented friend Matt. He plays guitar (so well) and sings backing vocals for me (also very well) - he's a legend.
That's the extent of my band information really ..... hope it was good!
Watch this, it's 'awesome' I was there!!

I"m doing a sponsored leg wax on Saturday 19th July (this coming Sat) at Sunderland Free Church, Stockton Road (just up from Park Lane Interchange) to raise money for 3 trips: my mum"s trip to Swaziland and 2 friends that are doing volunteer gap years in other countries. There will be a quiz around 7:30 (for the crack) then the waxing will take place around 8:30. Please come or donate; both would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if you are to come, please let me know for sake of knowing how many to expect.
Jayne I sometimes listen to your music when I'm feeling lonely or sad and it always chills me out. Little Miss Nobody is still my fave but I like Lay It Down too - really calming and your voice sounds great. xxxx
Thankyou! we enjoyed it so much, it was a great atmosphere. Apologies for the slightly scary stalker introduction (oooh I could have been Stalker's stalker!). What cello stuff would you like me to do? I'm excited to get involved in anything; I love playing at the moment! xx
Let me know a night next week you're free and we'll get together, like the olden days. Thanks for being so encouraging. You do know that you are a large part of me getting out there and playing these songs, don't you? I can't tell you how grateful I am for that. Love ya. M x
