I'm learning Spanish. Read that as MORE Spanish. I can of course arrest you en espanol, and maybe seduce you in Spanish, but as far as actually accomplishing anything... Not so much.

I'm also working on my guitar playing. It's not really PLAYING so much as slowly plucking and checking. But, every once in a while, you can tell what song I'm playing.

I work out regularly. It's good for me both physically and mentally. I'm pretty happy with the results, but, it's a process, and never ending. But that's half the fun!

    Philosophy. The why.

Politics. Who gets what, when, where, and how much?

The outdoors. The place where stuff happens when it's not on your computer.

History. What has happened. I need to know, otherwise I might be destined to repeat it.

Ok, sometimes, literature and poetry. Don't tell anyone, or I'll revert and do terrible things.

Pepsi is no longer my master. I have overcome my addiction! ..

Dave. Dave Matthews. Thank you. I owe this guy soooooo much. A.) I don't dance. B.) Dave makes me dance sometimes. (Technically I CAN two-step. Poorly.)

What else is in my CD tray right now?
Katy Perry, Framing Hanley, Bush, Foo Fighters, Seether, Jem (Ultraviolet Soundtrack), Sarah McLachlan (sp?), Chamillionaire, 50 cent.
Oooooh! And I wrote a song. It's to the tune of Dreidle, Dreidle, Dreidle.

Chainsaw, chainsaw, chainsaw, you are my favorite friend; Chainsaw, chainsaw, chainsaw, I'll love you till the end.

And at some point I'm supposed to add in, "What it do, baby".

  • Movies

In my DVD player now. Zombie movies. It's that time of year!

Lying next to the DVD player? The Rainmaker, What Dreams May Come, Much Ado About Nothing, The Chronicles of Riddick, Van Helsing, The Punisher, What Women Want, Robin Williams LIVE!

  • Television

Honestly, I don't watch much TV. Guess it's because I've got more stuff to do than sit in front of the TV. I do watch some movies while I am doing other stuff, though.

I will watch Boston Legal if I am in a TV mood. "Denny Crane". Nuff said.

I watch CSI at the gym on a regular basis, and like to laugh at how investigations occur on TV. Not much resemblance to real life, but entertaining.

I enjoy the History Channel, and I'll admit, buying a house made me more partial to HGTV and such. Don't tell the guys.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force "Our vertical leap is beyond measurement, and we're excellent spellers. Fuck you and your third dimension." ..
  • Books

Numerous philosophy books. Terry Pratchett. R.A. Salvatore. Terry Goodkind. Yeah, those are authors. I am aware. But too many titles to type out here. ..
  • Heroes

My mom. Powerful woman. I've learned from her many things to do. And sometimes more important, what not to do. I find that about a lot of people I love.

.. Drizzt Duorden. Yeah, he's fictional. But the spirit is the thing. Hope embodied.

My grandfather. He was a preacher. I've never been a real Christian, but I know a good one when I see one. I barely knew him, but I know this. You can't be a dirt poor preacher, never paid a dime for your preaching, and have the most attended funeral in the county, and be anything less than a good man. I wish I'd known you better Grandfather.

About me:

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world - "No, you move." - Captain America

Important stuff. Clarity?

That's worth a lot. One single moment of pure clarity. What is right in your life, good about you. And the not so groovy parts.

Have I had one of those moments lately? Yeah, a couple. And I found out that I like me. Sure, I need to empty the garbage, and iron my socks, but, I like me. I loves me some me.

For children are innocent and love justice, while most of us are wicked and naturally prefer mercy. -G.K. Chesterton

Honor. I've remembered I'm an Eagle Scout. And, honestly, I've been living up to that this past year. I've not always been 100% in the right. But I can say that I'm closer to right than wrong. If we're honest with ourselves, we know it's a continuous process of evolving.

Fun. Hey, if I can't laugh, then I don't see the point. Sometimes all you can do is laugh or you'll have to cry. So I laugh. Sometimes maniacally, sometimes to myself, but most often at myself. I've been trying to kill my ego for a long while now. So I find laughing at myself, and not my own jokes, helps remind me I'm not a superhero. I LOVE how humble I am. Lol.

I dance in my house. Start laughing now. I dance poorly. It makes me laugh at myself. I talk to my grandfather when I'm done. I don't know religion, but I DO know my Grandfather is in heaven. With god. -ness. -adiddy.

What else? Hmm. There is of course, my buddy, Donut. Sure he's a cat, but much like Lassie, he tells me when I left the iron on my socks too long, and they are on fire. I've yet to teach him to use the fire extinguisher, but, that's probably for the best.

I have to mention my horse Cash. She's my darling. Can't wait to get her saddle broke. Then the fun can really begin! I'm planning on some trips once I get her ready for trail riding.

Philosophy. I dig it. I'd rather walk and have an intelligent conversation with someone able to discuss philosophy, and what it means here in the real world, as win the lottery (Edit: Unless that lottery would exactly pay off my new mortgage. We could just postpone the walk til tomorrow). What noble creatures we can be. I can honestly say, I wish I saw more of that nobility around me. But, I know it's there, just under the surface, needing only some encouragement to find its' way out. We are good creatures. I don't have any choice but to keep repeating that to myself.

Until recently, I had a wonderful ferret named Izzie (short for Isabella). She was my personal mascot, and the most tenacious and funny little friend I've ever had. I am actually heartbroken by her absence. Rest in peace little fighter.

Who I'd like to meet:

Carlos Castaneda. Wrote the books on Don Juan Matus. Couched some really powerful, thought provoking philosophy in this story about his trips to Mexico, to meet an old indian there. Changed my life. Made me see, we have only so much energy when we are born. You cannot spend your life trying to carry another down your path. Taught me to know enough to step aside, and let go. He's supposedly dead, but I know he's just messing with us. I know your tricks, Yuri.

Mike Murphy. Already met him. Was a college professor of mine. Introduced me to philosophy. Every day, I thank him for what he has done for me. Never accepted anything less than perfection of thought from me. I think that the greatest lesson he ever taught me was, Logic First, but not last. He never said it, but I think couched in the lessons, was a truth that we are not sustained solely by our minds. The heart does play its role. The heart is god-ness. Thanks Mr. Murphy. For never giving any answer to me.

Her. Don't ask me her name, or what she looks like, or what she does for a living. I don't know. But I'll know her when I meet her. A friend said something about the best apples being at the top of the tree.

My Unitarian Jihad Name is: The Neutron Bomb of The Short Path.

Get yours.
