Jaysin and Anecha met in Austin TX in 1998 when Anecha(known as Gargamel then)was attending UT studying english, medicinal plants, and the chillers way of life, playing music with various folk and singer/songwriter types around town, and spending time exploring different forms of self discovery. Jaysin(known as Kaos then)was attending no school of any kind at the time and studied only skateboarding, freestyling at house parties, drinking, drugs, getting laid, and anything else self destructive, careless, or dangerous. Being that they were on almost complete opposite sides of the spectrum when they first met it was rather odd they would end up sharing many of the same views and opinions. Both shared a love for music and enjoyed introducing each another to the different pieces and styles that moved them and over time they came to be close friends. One night Anecha was tripping on San Pedro at a south austin party where Jaysin was loud mouthing in the cypher again, drunken, nearly coming to blows. Anecha watched from the sidelines and something about the beats and all the emotion involved in the altercation inspired him and when he returned that night he began to work on his first Hip Hop beat. He contacted Jaysin the next day telling him about his trip and that he wanted to start writing some songs together. Jaysin had not been writing songs at this point and was very excited to hear the news and so the two gathered up some equipment which they already had and borrowed some more from friends, put it all together in Anecha's kitchen and began to cook. With an Ensoniq eps, a Tascam 4 track, a dr. Rhythm drum machine, and various different acoustic and electric instruments the kitchen was complete a fully carpeted(walls and floors)sweat box piece of heaven on Jim Hogg and Houston St. They spent many years in that kitchen giving birth to the S.U.R crew and crafting their skills as they explored their limits with no instruction making the rules as they broke them. They began playing shows with friends at the time like DJ Good Grief, Locomotives, Tommy Guns, Adlib the Glib Poet, Mnolo and a few others at different local venues and parties around town, whatever the place whenever the chance they would pick up and play. During the summer of 2002 a long road trip and who knows how many drugs and mind altering experiences the rainbow gathering finally flipped Anecha on his head and the little hippie ended up in the islands far away from Austin on a journey that would end up lasting quite some time. Jaysin spent the next couple years writing and even producing most of the tracks on what would be his first solo project alone in an apartment in Dallas releasing Practice Makes Perfect. Two years later after Dallas had his way with Jaysin and as he was set to head home to Austin he met a producer in Dallas(Cheese) and dropped a parting shot to end his relationship with the city and the woman titled Passion Lost. Jaysin left Dallas and returned to San Marcos to link up with some old friends and some new ones to start writing and performing with the collective The Word Association. Over the next few years they did many live shows around Austin, throughout Texas, and the U.S. making a name for themselves and many fans along the way. Jaysin recorded and mixed all the releases from the Word Association and his solo projects in his home studio. In 2006 Jaysin and Anecha reunited and Anecha produced two beats for the Word Association release titled Lucid. Jaysin and Anecha had both spent a lot of time working on their skills and finding their different style and with Anecha moving back to California and the internet making file sharing so easy they decided to start a new project. Anecha along with Mnolo from San Antonio started making beats sending reason files back and forth blending both their styles and creating some very original music in the process. Jaysin rounded up the associates and together with DJ Crown they released Two Producers One Deejay and Five Emcees Later. The Word Association took a kind of hiatus after that while Jaysin and a few other members started working on a project with some French Musicians releasing the Brain Drain Generation EP as Binary Audio Misfits and touring France and the US to promote the project. Jaysin and Anecha kept in contact through this whole time and after a lot of travel in and out of the bay area the idea was born to release a new project with Anecha producing all of the beats and Jaysin writing all of the lyrics. This was to be the first release together in the decade that Jaysin and Anecha have been creating music together and they both were set on making this their best work yet. This time around Anecha used Recycle and Reason to create all the tracks sampling from various movies and artists, live field recordings, and other live instruments that aid in creating the Delta. Jaysin took everything to Hideout studios in Austin and reworked all the tracks one piece at a time to give Delta Blues a more analog feel and recorded and mixed the whole project there as well with help from engineer Michael Hynes. This brings us to now and to that which has yet to be written, so stay tuned and enjoy.
