Jay Smith, in daily life known as Guido Smits, was born on the 6th of January 1982. He grew up in Limbricht, a little town in the south of the Netherlands. At the age of 8 he started to play the guitar. As a teenager Jay listened to bands such as Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Faith No More. When he was 16 he joined long-time friends Black Wish. Highlights include playing the 'Nu of Nooit' final in 2000 and the festivals Urpop and Auw Mök that same year. At the end of 2003 Black Wish changed their line-up and went on as Rogue. Highlights include playing the 'Nu of Nooit' final in 2004 and winning the "Molenrock" contest. From February 2008 until April 2009 he was also part of Jamestown, a punk/rock/indie quintet from Zuid-Limburg. Highlights include playing the 'Podiumvrees' final and winning the 'Battle of the Bands'. Other bands/projects in which Jay played the guitar include Not For Sale and The Price of Working With Rice. When, in September 2004, Rogue decided to call it a day, Jay felt it was time to start writing his own songs. Jay is musically inspired by singer-songwriters such as Lori McKenna, Mark Erelli and Ryan Adams, but also draws inspiration from bands like The Gaslight Anthem and Counting Crows. Jay has already built up quite a repertoire and in April 2006 he recorded his first EP, Exmore Diner, which features three tracks. Jay has already played as a support-act for Quramitry and Kevn Kinney.

Klinkt goed! Speelde laatst samen met Adam Kowalczyk in de Azijnfabriek, was wel wat voor jou geweest! Jij had er beter gestaan als voorprogamma dan die pokkeherrie van ons
