From West Cornwall, Amy, who is just into her twenties, has already played all over the UK and abroad at Clubs and prestigious Jazz Festivals. She is becoming well known on the British jazz circuit as an exciting performer on saxophone, clarinet and flute and regularly appears as a guest with top bands. She is also as a competent bandleader of her own youthful, dynamic band featuring some of the most exciting young musicians on the jazz scene. Amy is currently a student at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where she studies classical saxophone with Rob Buckland and Andy Scott, and plays with the RNCM Big Band under the direction of Mike Hall. She has also been fortunate to have occasional lessons with Jiggs Whigham (BBC Big Band), Rowland Sutherland (acclaimed jazz flautist) and Julian Arguelles (top jazz saxophonist).
Amy was recently voted winner of the Rising Star Category in the British Jazz Awards 2009!
