Alligator Alley is on the road these days and Friday night the All Stars made it as far north as Boston's on the Beach in Delray. Kilmo led the parade, with David Shelley, Albert Castiglia, Bob Taylor and Jeff Renza adding to the mix that packed the house. Great to see all those FLL people up this way, and I heard that some people made a drive across the roadway known as Alligator Alley to catch this show. I am sure they thought it was worth it!
    ...........................................................

Closing time found us at the Back Room Blues Bar in Boca Raton for the last set of Terry Hanck w/ JP Soars and Red Hots making music to the pleasure of packed house. Great to see so many happy people out celebrating Anika's birthday!
    ...........................................................

Delray Beach came alive on Tuesday night with Skyla Burrell and her band letting the world know they came to play. Famous Frank's Blue Tuesday #64 was another hard-driving night of solid blues in his hand-picked line up. No fooling around here tonight...as serious as this music gets, played by pros and appreciated by those there to listen and even dance a bit. This group really works as a band and the tightness of their knit is evident in every song. By the time JP got there things were burning and he jumped right in the fire with them. If you are one of those that are meaning to come down some Tuesday, but haven't made it yet, you will NOT be disappointed if make the effort. Most of the line up has just been announced for the next three months, and it is stellar. Come on down and buy me a beverage! Whoops... I meant, "Come on down and enjoy the music!"
    ...........................................................

The weekend at The South Florida Blues & Americana Band Showcase ended with headliner Matt "Guitar" Murphy sharing his years of experience with the listeners and each note was appreciated. JBF firmly believes that great blues music cannot live in technical ability alone. There must be the heart and soul present to make it complete. It happened right here at Pulp Live folks. Thanks to everyone who put this event together! Thank you Mr. Matt "Guitar" Murphy for sharing your music with us!
    ...........................................................

The Nouveaux Honkies are on right now...a bit of a different set than earlier in the week up at Conchy Joes! Too dark in here for my camera to take vids, so maybe Mr. G. will share his HQ stuff...
    ...........................................................

To keep the entertainment going between set changes an area in the back was set up for acuostic sets and Grant Piper held court there for the afternoon, inviting Reina Collins, Pixie and other friends to join him. This was the first time hearing Grant, believe it or not, and now he is on the "I'll drive out of the way to hear this again" list...Pix-E's third-lung bag pipe harmonica playing is really something too!
    ...........................................................

The South Florida Blues & Americana Band Showcase roles on through its second day... Reina G. Collins opened the show, with the Nuck's in the second slot. We are on-site loading these, so look for more throughout the rest of the day as The Nouveaux Honkies come up next and then MATT GUITAR MURPHY is on at 7. Still time to get here for a memory-making performance!
    ...........................................................

Day one of The South Florida Blues & Americana Band Showcase was a classy presentation in a great location where the bands truly were "showcased." Everything was kept pretty much on time, so be sure to be there on time for today's shows and they will not be running late. This place is easy to get to, has easy access parking, and offers table and bar seating with room for dancing, two full bars and a kitchen that runs all day. There is no other place in our listings that you can head out to today that you will be able to hear four great bands for less than $4 per band! Here is the line-up for today: 3pm-Reina G Collins ; 4pm-Nucklebusters; 5pm-The Nouveaux Honkies; 6pm-Matt "Guitar" Murphy. Yes, that would be the "real" Matt "Guitar" Murphy! Come on out and tell your friends tomorrow at work that you spent the day with a legend!

About me:

Welcome to the MySpace space of Jazz & Blues Florida! If you like jazz and/or blues music, you will find yourself among friends here. Not only do we chronicle the day-to-day live music scene in photos, blogs, bulletins, and videos, we also provide easy access to learn more about musicians and clubs. Of course we can't get everywhere we would like to around the state, so we rely on our friends to keep us informed and up-to-date. Be sure to check out our other website that hosts our e-zine with artist previews of upcoming shows by both locals and visiting stars and advertisements of all sorts of music related matters. That site also has rather comprehensive listings of all the live jazz & blues that is happening around the state. Be sure to sign up for our weekly email so you know what is happening! Every day we are jumping from one task to another – looking at the watch as a guide. No wonder heart attack is one of the main causes to death. We forget to pause, to look around and to enjoy friendship and family. The world is beautiful – you only have to allow yourself to see it - to experience it.  Look at the watch, painted by Jette – given the title “Time is relative”.
Take care my friend, make time  and have a great weekend.
    Love and respect. Grandpa_Erik
