Jazz del Barrio is a six to seven piece band with horns, pumping out danceable Funky Jazz/Latin Jazz/Latin Funk and original compositions. Imagine the possible musical combinations flavored with Latin spice

Founded in early 2006, Jazz del Barrio has played numerous venues in and around Denver including City of Denver's Audio Picnic and Latino Rhythms, the Colorado Music Summit, Herman's Hideaway, The Walnut Room and the Chaputepec Too to name a few.

The band was started by Vince Vigil and Manuel Roybal, who have successfully played together in bands and theatrical music performances since 1999. With their increasing popularity, they decided to put together their own band with their own style of Latin jazz, funky jazz and original songs. Manuel has since left the band to concentrate on acting, but may come back as a guest performer from time to time. He has been replaced by James Hurtado who has an original project of his own. Nelson Soto, a very experienced conguero, joined the band in the Spring of 2006 and Vic Stauffenberg joined in 2007. The group has since played with various configurations by adding keyboards and various guest musicians. This band now works as a six to seven piece Latin influenced jazz-funk dance band with horns.
