One of the greatest things about being a musician is the camaraderie between kindred spirits. In 1993, I met Famoudou Don Moye, in Switzerland, where I interviewed Lester Bowie for my Master's Thesis. Both men were members of the Art Ensemble of Chicago. Their performance was meticulous and transforming. This April, while visiting Chicago, I had the opportunity of meeting Moye, once again, at his studio, where he teaches drumming and does wood and bronze work.

Who I'd like to meet:

Any musician interested in performing my original music. Freddie Hubbard was the first, with SWEET RETURN (Atlantic, 1983). Then, there was Giovanni Mazzarino who co-produced FEELIN' GOOD (Tireno Records, 1995). Next, was Cola Run who performed with me on TALKIN' THAT JAZZ (Caustic Records 2006). Who will be next?
