Andreas Gäbel kam schon früh mit dem Musikgeschäft in Berührung: bereits 1983 spielte er mit Musikern der Rias-Big-Band und anderen namhaften Bands der (West-)Berliner Musik- und Jazzszene, ab 1986 nahm er regelmäßig an Studioaufnahmen teil. Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Albert King aber auch Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix und Oscar Peterson nennt er als musikalische Vorbilder - Vorbilder zwar, aber nie Kopiervorlagen: Andreas spielt einen Stil, der durch phantasievolle Improvisationen, und pulsierenden Groove geprägt ist. Er sieht sich selbst als einen modernen Traditionalisten der sein Standard-Jazz-Repertoire, zwar modern interpretiert aber der Modernität nie die Authentizität der Musik opfern würde. Von 1988 bis 1992 studierte Andreas an der HdK. Berlin (heute UdK.) (klassiche) Gitarre bei Laurie Randolph und Carlo Domeniconi und privat Jazz bei Michael Gechter. Er erhielt 1990 Privatunterricht bei Attila Zoller in New York , 1992 bei Joe Pass in Hamburg und besuchte Workshops und Meisterkures bei Herb Ellis, Pat Metheny, Phillip Catherine, Larry Coryell und Jim Hall. Seit Beginn der 90er Jahre arbeitet Andreas Gäbel als Gitarrist, seitdem hat er mit Künstlern, wie z.B. Caterina Valente, Dionne Warwick, Paul Kuhn, Horst Jankowski, Eartha Kitt, Nancy Wilson, Udo Jürgens, Gloria Gaynor u.a. sowie mit Bands und Orchestern, wie der Big Band des Hessischen Rundfunks (FFM) zusammengearbeitet. Seit 2003 spielt regelmäßig mit STAND-ARTS auf vielen gesellschaftlichen Anlässen und Feierlichkeiten auf. Seit 2007 konzertiert er mit seinem Trio sowie in verschiedenen Duobesetzungen in Clubs und auf Festivals. Seit 2008 ist Andreas Gäbel Endorser für Höfner Gitarren.
