Hi there! Welcome you to my my space on Myspace. I am a professional jazz guitarist based in Tucson AZ. I play mainly bop since that's whats played around here, but my own style is more along the lines of Pat Metheny. I think he is hands down one of the greatest guitarists ever to touch the instrument. I also love Pat Martino's playing, he is simply genuis. Allan Holdsworth is another guy that is in a league all his own. As for guitars, my main instrument is an Eastman 810 CE, it is a handmade copy of a Benedetto...I swear this guitar I have is haunted, I think it is the guitar Leo Kottke was singing about in the song "The Student Prince" I also have a D'Angelico archtop that I am very protective of since it is a collector's Item...I guess since Im not a collector and I never gig it, I probably shoudn't have bought it, but I always wanted one so there ya go.I also have a old Gibson 335 dot that I haul around to Jams and such, it's a great guitar with a mess of miles on it, like a timex it "takes a lickin and keeps on tickin" hehe. As for Amps I use a fender princeton for the little solo jazz gigs, when I want to rock the house I use my Mesa Boogie Mark III. For effects I use a line 6 pod XT set to Fender twin blackface deluxe, going through a Leslie on slow speed, with the reverb set to large hall...talk about a jazz tone! For the rock stuff, I generally use my 335 through a Boss GT-6, not the greatest, but through the boogie it gets the job done. I also play a Casio PG-380 Synth guitar...don't laugh it is a SUPERB guitar. (actually it was made by Ibanez for Casio, and Casio just crammed all the synth electronics into it) it has 3 outputs, one for guitar, one for the synth, and a midi out (for driving an external synth). When I run the guitar output through the pod into the Boogie, and the Synth output through the GT-6 into the Fender it is a veritable tonefeast. You can hear this guitar on the cut "On the Wes Side" the Organ is this guitar, not a bad organ for a guitar huh? I also have a couple of 8 string classicals, yes you read that right, EIGHT STRINGS. tuned A,D,E,A,D,G,B,E...low to high. This extended range allows for unheard of voicings beyond even what is available on a standard 7 string. See the You Tube Videos above. I am currently working with a well known west coast Luthier to finalize design for a "Tapered 8"...stay tuned! Anyway thats all for now, if you are in Tucson and want to hear me, Check my schedule on this page. Bye and thanks for stopping by and listening!
