The band was organized by a group of energetic and enthusiastic semi-professional musicians of the Greater Toronto Area. Our objective is a comeback to the roots of the modern music, to the evergreen and forever young mainstream jazz. The music has no borders or age restrictions - let's get together on a sentimental journey back in the middle of the 20'th century!
Raised in the beautiful centre of Russian rocket science in Moscow suburbs - Kaliningrad (now Korolyov) Julia started her studies of classical violin and piano at the city's famous music school from the tender age of 7. Through Julia's University years she continued her love for music playing with the University Chamber Ensemble. Moving abroad to Toronto, Canada has broaden Julia's interest in a variety of musical genres and in recent times has been focusing on Grappeli style taking Jazz violin lessons from Rodion Boshoer, lead performer of Clubdjango. François started playing guitar and drums is in native Montreal many decades ago. He accompanied various local bands throughout the 70's and 80's until his daytime work took him abroad, mostly France and U.K. where he lived for a few years before returning to Vancouver, then Toronto for a short while. He then spent a few years in Venezuela where he was exposed to a whole new world of rythm and percussion styles, while singing as a baritone-bass in a corporate choir and taking piano lessons. After his second return to Toronto he spent a few years accompanying various bands
on the timbales, hand percussion, electric guitar and bass, and also
learned the basics of how to play the trumpet. But the drumkit call was
strong and in early 2007 he decided to get back to the throne and has
since been playing drums almost exclusively with groups doing jazz, old
standards and swing music.
